82nd Airborne Paratrooper Killed in Iraq
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An 82nd Airborne paratrooper from Kansas has been killed in fighting in Iraq, the Army announced Tuesday.

Spc. Eric C. Palmer, assigned to the First Battalion of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the division's Third Brigade Combat Team died Monday in a town called Salah Ad Din, the Army said. Enemy small-arms fire killed him, the announcement said.

Palmer, who is from Maize, Kan., joined the Army in 2004 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne in 2005. He had received the Broze Star and a Purple Heart along with several other awards, the Army said.
