81-year-old charged with murder in death of Moore County man

Sheriff Neil Godfrey said that deputies responded to a home at 676 Sand Pit Road in Aberdeen on July 20 and found the body of Dallis L. Kellis, 76, inside.

ABERDEEN, N.C. — An 81-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday in connection with the July death of a Moore County man.

Sheriff Neil Godfrey said that deputies responded to a home at 676 Sand Pit Road in Aberdeen on July 20 and found the body of Dallis L. Kellis, 76, inside.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office said Kellis' wife called 911 after discovering her husband's body.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office determined Kellis’ cause of death was two gunshot wounds.

Margaret Francis Kellis, of 676 Sand Pit Road, was charged with one count of felony murder and one count of felony forgery and uttering. She was being held in the Moore County Detention Center without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 7.
