RALEIGH, N.C. — An 8-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle in southeast Raleigh on Monday morning died early Wednesday from his injuries, according to officials at WakeMed.

Investigators say Jahlen Williams was crossing Rock Quarry Road with an adult when he was struck by a vehicle.

Jahlen was a short distance from the Cross Link Road intersection but was not in a marked crosswalk.

Police released a 911 call following the incident, and an unidentified woman told a dispatcher that people were trying to help Jahlen.

"We've got probably eight people calling from this same wreck," she said. "We're trying to do CPR on him, but I don't think it's going to work."

No other information about the incident has been released. No charges have been filed.
