ABERDEEN, N.C. — The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found shot to death at an Aberdeen home.

Sheriff Neil Godfrey said that deputies responded to a home at 676 Sand Pit Road on Wednesday morning and found the body of Dallis L. Kellis, 76, inside.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office said Kellis' wife called 911 after discovering her husband's body.

“Deputies are currently conducting a very thorough crime scene search of the residence,” Godfrey said in a statement.

Garrett Martin, a resident in the neighborhood, said seeing yellow crime tape is unusual for the area. Martin, who knew Kellis, said the news came as a shock.

"He's a nice guy," Martin said. "I speak to him every day I walk to the store."

Authorities said they don't believe there is any threat to the public and that they are following several leads on suspects.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Moore County Sheriff’s Office at 910-947-2931.
