7 simple ways to brighten your husband's day

Posted July 1

Do you want to add a bit more joy in your sweetheart’s day?

Whether you can sense he needs a pick-me-up or you just want to show him more love, these seven simple gestures will definitely make his day wonderful.

1. Show interest

Ask him about his day, his hobbies and projects, the book he’s reading or the game he’s watching. Then, pay close attention to what he has to say. Engaging in his interests is a great way to show him love — you might even find yourself getting genuinely interested in what he has to say. He’ll be excited to talk to the wife he loves about about the things he loves.

2. Think of ways to serve him

Is there a house chore he usually does every day? Beat him to it. Did you notice his gas is getting low? Fill his car up for him. Does he feel tensed up at night from the stresses of the day? Offer to give him a backrub. There are countless ways you can serve your husband as long as you are on the lookout.

3. Up the affection

When you wake up, snuggle in close and tell him you love him before getting up. When you part in the morning, kiss him more passionately than usual. Send him flirty text messages throughout the day — he’ll absolutely love the increase in affection you show him.

4. Send him a funny joke or video

Laughter is a great way to make your husband’s day better, and something as small as sending him a hilarious video or tagging him in a relatable meme on Facebook will make him grin. It’ll give him a moment to laugh during his hard day at work and it’ll also remind him that you’re thinking of him.

5. Plan something fun for tonight

Even if it’s a weekday, plan to take a little time tonight to do something you know your husband would have fun doing. Whether it’s taking a hike, going out for dessert or seeing a movie, your husband will love the break from the typical, mundane daily activities.

6. Give him a "just because" gift

You don’t have to go out and splurge on a big gift. In fact, these types of gestures are more meaningful if they have more sentimental value than a high price tag. Whether you go the homemade route or find a small something at the store, he’ll love that you made him feel special in the middle of a normal day.

7. Start his morning off positively

Before you part in the morning, tell him how much you love him and how grateful you are for everything he does. Whip up a yummy breakfast or wake up early and go out for pancakes and french toast together. Wish him luck for his day ahead. Whatever you can think of that will make his morning happy, do it. When you make sure he starts his morning off right, he’ll be a lot more likely to have a great rest of the day.

Of course, these loving gestures go both ways — any wife would always greatly appreciate their husband's efforts to increase their happiness, too. A loving, strong marriage always involves spouses prioritizing each other’s happiness, so always be on the lookout of ways to bring a little extra joy to your sweetheart’s day.
