— Six people charged with trespassing at 4th District Congressman David Price's office were scheduled to go to trial Monday.

Laura Bickford, Ben Carroll, Alisan Fathalizadeh, Sara Joseph, Dante Strobino and Tamara Tal were arrested Feb. 16 at Price's Chapel Hill office as they demanded he vote against continuing to fund the Iraq War.

Price has requested that Orange County prosecutors dismiss the charges.

The most intresting thing about this story is a liberal being protested against and it making it past the news censor....

I am a liberal and proud of it. I hope that EVERY politician assaults cigarettes. I am a former smoker. Smoking has taken my father (who, by the way fought on Iwo Jima and thus I was raised with a love of country)and my Mom has been diagnosed with emphysema. As far as the protest, the only bad thing is that it did not work. The majority of this country is against it. The government should support that.

It is probably worth noting that the students weren't really peacefully protesting. There were other protesters outside that weren't arrested and were allowed to say their peace. These 6 locked arms and refused to leave the office until Price met their demands to support an immediate withdrawal. Anyway, Price was in washington at the time, so obviously that wasn't going to work.

"I just can't figure out how this old senile person keeps getting re-elected. It must be the people in the People's Republic of Chapel Hill and Orange County that helps put him back in all the time."

Blame the Republican Party for not mounting a real challenge in years. The candidate this year was a nobody.

Price won in all four counties in the 4th district. Redistricting has basically made him unbeatable barring a true, formidable Republican candidate. Even then, the odds would be tremendous.

They were NOT out protesting like the Durham clan.

"The People's Republic of Chapel Hill", I can't stop laughing.. love it!

  • now May 7, 2007

And I forgot that he has to help his party investigate and hold hearings on everybody except crooks in his own party. And then he has taxes to raise again. So you can see why he has no time to talk to these Libs.

Price is a very busy man. He has taxes to raise, cigarettes to assault and tax more and bad mouth the President and the country and then raise taxes again. Why would you think he has time to listen to anyone. I just can't figure out how this old senile person keeps getting re-elected. It must be the people in the People's Republic of Chapel Hill and Orange County that helps put him back in all the time.

I know one of the people on trial. They requested to see Congressman Price, but he refused to see them. So they sat in his office till the police arrested them.
