Phase 2 of appliance rebate program begins Tuesday

Posted May 27, 2010

North Carolina consumers will have another chance to save on energy-efficient appliances beginning Tuesday. The second phase of North Carolina’s Energy Star Appliance Replacement and Rebate Program has $1 million in funds available for rebates on purchases of certain refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, water heaters, heat pumps, furnaces and air conditioners.

Buyers may apply for the rebates online or by calling 1-877-379-7323 beginning on Tuesday morning. Rebates will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until all the funds are claimed.

Applicants must provide a name, address, telephone number and electricity provider along with the date the appliance was purchased, product price, name and location of the retailer, the type of product, the manufacturer and the model number.

Rebates will be sent in the form of a prepaid debit card that can be used toward purchases at stores that accept debit cards.

"The link in related articles takes you to the official website. The website, however, does not mention dryers as eligible for this rebate. ??"

Dryers are not considered energy efficient, so they do not qualify. Is there even an Energy Star rated dryer?
