Leaky Windows Call For Five On Your Side Fix

Everybody needs their own space. Robert Hill loves the garage he had built as a place to get away.

"I enjoy the building. It's roomy," Hill said. "I can house all my outdoor stuff and I've got a place that I can come and work and spend some solitary time, so to speak."

Last February, Hill paid Carolina Structural of Wilson $13,500 for the building. About three months later Hill noticed the windows leaked when it rained.

Because it was not raining when Five On Your Side was there, Hill sprayed the windows with a hose to demonstrate how the windows leak.

Hill called Carolina Structural. He said six phone calls and a month later, the windows were replaced by the subcontractor who installed them. A week after that, Hill noticed the news windows leaked.

"I said 'Well, here we go again. We're gonna go through the whole thing again,'" Hill said.

Hill said he again called repeatedly for weeks. He said his salesman from Carolina Structural called one time to say a repairman would be out in a few hours, but Hill could not get away from work that quickly.

Hill said he called the company several more times and even met with owner John Williams.

"They'd tell me they'd get back with me, they'd check on it and get back with me, and they never would," he said.

Hill finally called Five on Your Side. We called Carolina Structural. The company had the windows replaced the next day.

No one from Carolina Structural wanted to talk with Five On Your Side on camera. Customer service manager Brent Holding said he never dealt directly with Hill, but blamed the problems on "phone tag and miscommunication."

Holding said it was difficult to repair the windows because of Hill's schedule. Hill disagrees and says he does not understand the delays.

"For the life of me I don't understand why they have treated me this way," he said.

Hill said the windows are not leaking this time. He is happy and just wishes it would have happened sooner.
