WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — All of us have things around the house we would like to fix, but we put off. When it comes time to sell the house, it is a different story.

In this case, Diana Streich said the repair made things worse.

The color on Streich's fiberglass tub and shower is peeling off.

"Every time I clean it, more comes off," she said.

Last March, she hired Tub Medic to change the tub's color and make it look new. She paid owner George Tice $250. He sprayed on the new color.

"It was smooth and I thought he did a great job," she said.

Streich said she was told not to use the shower for 24 hours and to only use a mild cleaner. She said she followed the rules, but less than two months later, noticed problems.

"The first thing I noticed was bubbling. That's how it all started,"Streich said.

Streich said she and her husband called Tice and left numerous messages to which there was no response. So Streich called Five on Your Side.

"I think it's going to happen again. It's my gut feeling about it, but I'm willing to let him do it again," Streich said. "If this happens again, we just want a refund."

Five On Your Side called Tice. He said he did not return Streich's calls because he was in a bad motorcycle accident.

Since he was feeling better, Tice said he tried to fix the peeling problem twice. It did not work, so Tice agreed to refund Streich's $250.

Streich said she will look for another way to fix her peeling tub.

Tice said he has successfully refinished the same type of tub that Streich has before. He is not sure why her tub peeled.
