What is the Energy Star label worth?

North Carolina shoppers can save short- and long-term on new appliances bought between Nov. 4 and 6.

The state's annual Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday means qualified washers, freezers, refrigerators, air conditioners, heat pumps, ceiling fans, dehumidifiers and programmable thermostats are available tax-free during the sale. It begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6.

“This program provides two big benefits,” Gov. Bev Perdue said. “North Carolinians can save money, both on the purchase price and on their electric bills in the years to come; and the tax break will encourage purchases and increase sales, which helps create jobs.”
