Food Lion deals 6/15

Posted June 15, 2011

Food Lion is offering a new promotion this week: The Big Deal. When you buy 10, 20 or 30 participating items, you get .50 off each item at the register. There are a few good deals in the ad with this promo including .75 Pepsi 2 ltrs and Cheez-It crackers for 80 cents. Other good deals this week at Food Lion include red grapes for 99 cents and red or green leaf lettuce for $1.29!

Food Lion Coupon Basics

Food Lion does not double coupons

They have no limits on number of coupons they will take, unless specified in the ad

BOGO items ring up at half price so if you only buy 1, it rings at half price. You can use a coupon on each BOGO sale item.

E-Coupons: You can now load RedPlum.com manufacturer’s coupons to your Food Lion MVP card and when they scan your card at the register and you buy the qualifying items, the discount will come off automatically. I spoke with corporate and they confirmed that these are manufacturer’s coupons and not to be combined with hard copy manufacturer’s from the newspaper and other sources. She said their policy is only coupon per product. No e-coupons will double.  Click HERE for the ecoupons.

The Big Deal Mega Event: Food Lion is offering a promotion called The Big Deal where you get money off at the register depending on how many qualifying items you purchase. Basically, you get 50 cents off per item when you buy 10, 20 or 30 participating products. There are over 125 qualifying items throughout the store. The ad shows 30 of the items so there are many more to be found in-stores. Please share any other good deals you find with this promotion. This promotion is valid June 15 – June 28, 2011.

Here is how it works:

Buy 10 participating products, get $5 off
Buy 20 participating products, get $10 off
Buy 30 participating products, get $15 off
Maximum $15 reward per shopping visit.

Some of the better Big Deal buys from the ad include the following. I am hoping for better in-store deals.

Pepsi 2 ltrs $1.25 - .50 Big Deal discount = .75 each

Sunshine Cheez-It crackers $2 - .50 Big Deal discount and .70/1 printable coupon for Colby variety = .80  Click HERE for the Cheez-It coupon.

Betty Crocker Frosting .99 (part of Big Deal promo) and Betty Crocker Cake Mix $1.25 (not part of promo)
Buy both and use coupon for .75 off when you buy both from 5/22 SS
The total will be .49 for the frosting after Big Deal promo plus $1.25 for cake mix - .75 = .99 (.50 each)

Del Monte tomatoes canned 14.5 oz .99 - .50 Big Deal discount = .49 each

Milk-Bone Healthy Favorites dof treats $2.50 - .50 Big Deal discount - $1 coupon from 5/22 RP = $1.00

Kiwi 2 for .88

Red seedless grapes .99/lb – a good price!

Red or green leaf lettuce $1.29 each- a good price!

Cantaloupe $1.99 each

Watermelon $3.99

Vidalia onions 5 lb bag $3.99

Carrot Chips – I had to laugh at this. The ad indicates that the fresh carrots chips (sliced carrots) are $1.99 each….each! That’s a pretty hefty price for 1 carrot slice! I don’t know if this price is actually for a 12 oz or 16 oz bag, but either way, I think it is really funny that each single slice of carrot is $1.99 according to the ad.

Holly Farms whole fryers .67/lb

FL boneless chicken breasts, 2.5 frozwn BOGO

FL jumbo shrimp, 16 oz frozen BOGO

Ball Park meat franks BOGO - .75/2 coupon from 6/5 RP

Dairy & Frozen

My Essentials orange juice, 64 oz $2.00

Magnum ice cream bars 10 oz $2.99 - $1 coupon from 5/22 RP or $1.50 coupon off a 3-pack from the Kroger coupon flyer on 6/12 (if 3-pack is included) = $1.49 to $1.99

Edy’s ice cream BOGO - $1/2 coupon from 6/12 SS

FL canned vegetables 14.5 oz – 15.75 oz, select varieties (ad shows corn and green beans) 3 for .99

Knorr Rice or Pasta Sides $1.00 - .50/2 from 5/22 SS = .75 each

Bounty Basic 6 roll $4.49 - $1 coupon from 6/12 RP = $3.49

Charmin bath tissue 12 basic or 9 large $4.49 - .25 coupon from 6/5 PG = $4.24

I found out this morning that the Colby CheezIts are not part of the big deal - only the marked varieties which includes original.

I actually went to foodlion yesterday and bought 3 of the Gain laundry detergents and I got each one at 3.49 each. I think it is advertised in the paper for 3.99. I did not buy 10 and I still got the deal once they scanned my MVP card!! I checked my receipt and I actually did get each Gain for 3.49. No questions asked I thanked the cashier and left.

a blinkie is one of those little coupon boxes stuck to a store shelf (like in front of the poptarts in my case) that spits out coupons...and sometimes has a little red light on it that blinks! the coupon is specific to a product on that shelf.
