Thursday thoughts: SavingStar ecoupons - a new way to save!

Posted May 12, 2011

There is a new digital coupon site that offers a unique way to save. SavingStar allows you to register your store reward cards and then load digital coupons to your store reward card. What is unique about this program is that the coupon discount does not come off at the register. The savings are added to your SavingStar account and when it reaches $5, you can cash the savings in for a gift card. You can choose to receive an Amazon gift card, have the money deposited into your Paypal account or checking account or donate it to AmericanForests.org.

When you sign up for the program, you will enter the reward card numbers for the reward cards you wish to register. Then, they will automatically link the eCoupons you select to all of your cards. Participating stores in our area include CVS, Rite Aid, Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Food Lion and Kroger. They also have iPhone and Android apps available.

According to their website, new coupons will become available at the first of every month. Savings will usually show up in your account between 2 days and 2 weeks depending on how long it takes the stores to give SavingStar the information.  These coupons will not double. Although it does not say on the site, you should be able to use paper coupons with no issue in addition to these SavingStar coupons.

There are a number of available coupons for products our family uses including No Yolks noodles, Wacky Mac pasta, Wisk and All laundry detergents and more.  I am looking forward to seeing how quickly the savings accrue.

does it block your e-vic coupons from coming off? SO if I have say a $.75 off paper coupon for water and a $.75 off evic coupon at HT on my card and a $.75 off at this website will I still get the evic one?

I have used this system! Only for about a week or so but still.

Yes, they have expiration dates which will be listed as you "add" them to your cards.

Yes, they work perfectly well with paper coupons. I bought Wacky Mac at Lowes yesterday and my coupons worked fine. Just waiting for the .40 SavingStar to be credited to my account now.

.40 cent in already! I should be at $5 before I know it!

jzka...probably not because I have a Upromise account which works in a similar fashion and you can use regular coupons with the Upromise coupons because it's not taking the money off at the register.

Do these coupons have expiration dates (how long do you have to use them)?

Does anyone know if the SavingStar coupons are void if you use a paper coupon or store e-coupon for the same item?
