Wednesday weigh-in

Posted May 11, 2011

It's Wednesday and if you are participating in our weight-loss challenge, that means it's time to jump on the scale and measure your progress. How did you do this week?

I lost 1pound this week for a total of 19.5 lbs. lost since the challenge started 9 weeks ago.  It was a busy, busy week with little time for exercise but I did manage to get in a few walks. Hoping for more exercise this week.  Didn't I say that last week, and the week before....? I'm still losing so I am happy with the 1 little pound.

If you are new to the Wednesday weigh-in, a number of us are doing a 25 lb. weight loss challenge. Even if you only have 5 or 10 lbs to lose or you have 50 lbs to lose, please join in! It's never too late to start taking better care of yourself.  As we all know, it's more frugal to be healthy than to deal with all the medical issues (and medical bills) associated with obesity.

I am not following any special plan that requires packaged (ie expensive) meals, calorie/point tracking or any other packaged weight loss program. I am just eating better and exercising more (or at least trying to!). Less food, higher quality food, more raw food, less processed food and more movement. It's a pretty basic formula and is working like a charm.

This week's goal: Get to the gym 2 times this week and walk 3 times in my neighborhood for a total of 5 days of exercise.  What are your goals for this week?

While playing Monopoly (actually, Oceanopoly) last night with my youngest, we had Biggest Loser on in the background. I was amazed that Hannah lost another 5 lbs last week. As small as she is now, that's really impressive. I wonder what she is really eating during the week.  I also wonder how many hours she works out per day.  Did anyone else watch the show?

Let's hear it - what did the scale tell you this morning?

This is my first time on this blog. Congratulations to all that have lost and are on the journey to become healthy. I have lost 2lbs this past week making a total of 33lbs since December. I recently started exercising to keep my weightloss going. I still have a long way to go but at least it is 33 down and I think that is wonderful.

Hey Faye, I started about 2 weeks before you did but I'm up to 24 pounds lost!! I still have a way to go before I reach my goal weight but I'm well on my way! I broke my foot about 3 weeks ago and its really limiting my exercise. I hope to get back on track in the next few weeks with walking again. I was up to walking 3 miles a day! Who would have thought? Congrats on your 19+ pounds - great job!!

Good job to all. I started a weight loss program about the same time Faye issued this challenge. So far, I am losing 3 lbs/week. I go for my 1 month check up tomorrow and am excited to see all the results-esp., since I have tried every diet/fad with no results. This one seems to work-at least for me.

Well...I didn't loose any weight, actually gained 3 bls but my body fat % has gone down a teeny tiny bit. I started working with a personal trainer and she said to expect things like this the first few weeks -- it might take 5-6 weeks -- as my body adjusts to the food I am eating and the training. It is fighting me right now. She's upped my calories because of working out. I'm working out with her 3 x's a week for 30 minutes plus doing 30 minutes of cardio on those 3 days. I'm also doing cardio at least 1 if not 2 more days of the work week. Weekends are hard because they are already full but we'll try there also. I try not to get real hung up on the # on the scale but on how I look and feel. My goal is to be down 30 lbs by 8/15/11. My trainer says we can do this! I am going to keep positive and see what transpires over the next week.

Oh, I am using to track my daily nutrition and exercise. The nutrition tracker is making me very aware of where I need to work.

Just started getting e mails from the smart shopper this week. Love it! Saw you at the Southern Women's Show and signed up. Would love to join this weight loss adventure. I need to lose 25 lbs. Am planning on eating healthy, doing Callanetics (exercise program by Callan Pinckney), walking and dancing for exercise. Thanks for the encouragement to get started.

Great job on the weight loss, pss3 - especially considering all you are dealing with! Is the new formula helping?

I also lost a pound this week. Still struggling with my son's reflux but we are on a path to healing with new formula and medicines.

Faye I love biggest loser...I am in awe of how much weight they can lose in one week, especially the bigger guys. More power to them if they can workout 8 hours a day, I would pass out after 2 hours at the most. But I guess I would be too afraid of Jillian getting in my face to quit!

Welcome to the blog bhorlick - you can stalk us any day! Wow - 8 hours a day of exercise. I'm happy to get in 45 minutes of exercise. Thanks for your post!

This is my first week stalking this forum and I'm really liking all of this great information! I feel like I've stumbled across something profound! Thanks!

I coupon and watch Biggest Loser. Love the show. Been watching it for 11 seasons now. I can tell you that they work out 8 hours a day! It's like a full time job. And they tailor the calories to each contestant based on weight.
