Posted May 6, 2011

It’s the first Friday of the month and that means it’s time for a giveaway!

In honor of all the sweet moms out there this Mother’s Day weekend, this month’s giveaway is a Groupon coupon for 1 dozen FREE cookies from Monica’s Best Gourmet Cookies and includes all shipping and handling costs. As you can see on the website, they have some amazing flavors including White Chocolate Coconut Divine, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, Iced Lemon, a number of sugar free options and more traditional flavors like peanut butter, chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin. You have until July 26 to use the coupon and it may take you until then to decide which flavor to order! Click HERE for the Monica’s Gourmet Cookies website.

To enter this giveaway, simply post a favorite memory of your mom or a favorite quote from your mom. My mom always used to say, “This too shall pass” and she was right.

I will randomly draw the winning name on Tuesday, May 10 at 3:00 PM and post the winning name soon after. Good luck!

My Mimi (who was my maternal figure) always said, "The best is yet to come!". She would write it on cards, random yellow sticky notes left around her office and home, and inside the pages of her well-worn bible. I didn't quite understand its meaning until I was well into my twenties. So much of what we fear in life turns out to be a pure blessing, and just when I think I've been blessed enough I hear her voice laughing, "Darlin', the BEST is yet to come!".

Not my mom, but my mom's mom, who sadly had early-onset Alzheimers, used to open her Bible to an "artist's rendering" painting of Jesus, point and say, "Wow, he's good looking!" I was appalled and cracking up at the same time. (I was about 8 yrs old at the time.)

My Mom has always told me that you can do anything that you put your mind to, and that nothing is impossible. How true this is!

I was blessed that my Mom was a stay at home Mom. I loved the fact that she was waiting for me when I came home and I could tell her about my day - good or bad. I wish I could do the same for my girls. Luckily I am able to leave work early enought that I can pick them up from school and we talk in the car. That is such a bonding time.

My Mom had several words of "wisdom" that was given to me - the one I remember most was "If (insert name here) jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?" Then of course, there was the old favorite "Be sure to wear clean panties in case you are in an accident". Never really understood that one - if I was in an accident who would care about my panties??? Thanks to all who have shared words of wisdom passed on by our "bestest friends" - our Moms!

My favorite memory of my mom was that she always had something baked and warm from the oven when I got home from school for a snack. Sometimes it was apple crisp, sometimes it was a pie, or cookies. And somehow I managed to stay underweight my whole childhood. I really was spoiled! :)

My favorite memory of my Moma is her walking me to kindergarten everyday. We didn't have a car, and one day it was raining. She didn't complain, or make a big deal about it. We just walked through the rain having a blast. Or course I was soaked by the time we reached school, but who cares, I was with my Moma.

My mom and I would pick strawberries and make jam every summer. Looked forward to it every year.
