Food Lion deals 5/4

Posted May 4, 2011

Food Lion has a great deal on strawberries this week at $1.25/lb as well as good buys on Blue Bunny ice cream, green peppers, pineapples, shrimp, Lenders bagels, Tyson Any'tizers and more!

You may notice that the Food Lion ad is a little different this week. There are 8 pages (which is a lot for Food Lion) but they are less cluttered and easier to read. I actually like it! There is also a $5 off $25 coupon available from the coupon kiosk in stores when you scan your MVP card. You will also find good deals on strawberries ($1.25/lb), ground beef, Blue Bunny ice cream, green peppers, pineapples and more!

I really want to know why they put the Hostess Sweet 16 Donuts BOGO sale under the heading “Savings for Mom” with the flowers and Mother’s Day cakes. Are Hostess donuts a traditional Mother’s Day gift and I have been missing out all these years? :-)

Food Lion Coupon Basics

Food Lion does not double coupons

They have no limits on number of coupons they will take, unless specified in the ad

BOGO items ring up at half price so if you only buy 1, it rings at half price. You can use a coupon on each BOGO sale item.

Coupon Kiosk coupon: There is a $5 off $25 coupon available from the coupon kiosk in stores when you scan your MVP card. FYI – since most Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter stores take competitor coupons for a total off your total order (like this $5 off $25 coupon), they will probably accept this one as well.

LAXmom - They told me it was a change and it was their new policy. Even a manufacturer sponsored catalina coupon for $3.00 off your next grocery order (for example) would not be accepted if it printed from a different grocery store. I pointed out that it says "Manufacturer Coupon" right on it but they say the manufacturers give them a hard time about reimbursement so the manager decided to no longer accept them. I was bummed!

I went to the kiosk yesterday and it printed a memo that the $5 off $25 would be available to you when you come back and print again on Sunday!

    Thanks Faye!

  • thekeslings May 4, 2011

Faye, your donut comment made me LOL. :)

That's a negative, jzka. The ad indicates only 1 coupon per shopping trip, per person, per day. Not applicable toward the purchase of alcohol, tobacco, stamps, gift cards, or services. Sorry.

Does anyone know if we can we use both 5/25 coupons (kiosk/mailer) in one transaction?

  • LAXMom12 May 4, 2011

purplepat -- that must be a recent change. They were the ones that told me about accepting them a few months ago. I even went to the car and got a Kroger coupon I had received and used it.

Its funny how certain stores do what they want. I mean I have to assume accepting competitors coupons is a part of their policy so that's why I say that.

  • purplepat777 May 4, 2011

The HT on main street in Fuquay won't let me use competitors' coupons at all! None, zero, nada, zilch!

  • HappyGirl08 May 4, 2011

I have found that the only HT I have a little bit of trouble with in using the competitors coupons is Meadowmont in Chapel Hill. I can usually use my CVS ones but if I bring a FL one they make a face at it. Now, any other HT I go to takes them no questions asked. And, good for me...I got a card in the mail yesterday from lowes foods for 10.00 off my order for 4 weeks in a row. I don't usually shop there so I'll be taking them with me to HT. :-)
