Wednesday weigh-in

Posted May 4, 2011

It's Wednesday and if you are participating in our weight-loss challenge, that means it's time to jump on the scale and measure your progress. How did you do this week?

I lost 2 more pounds for a total of 18.5 lbs. lost since the challenge started 8 weeks ago. My goal was to do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day in the last  week. I was able to get in 30-45 minutes per day for 6 days in the last week, so I am pleased.

If you are new to the Wednesday weigh-in, a number of us are doing a 25 lb. weight loss challenge. Even if you only have 5 or 10 lbs to lose or you have 50 lbs to lose, please join in! It's never too late to start taking better care of yourself.  As we all know, it's more frugal to be healthy than to deal with all the medical issues (and medical bills) associated with obesity.

I am not following any special plan that requires packaged (ie expensive) meals, calorie/point tracking or any other packaged weight loss program. I am just eating better and exercising more. Less food, higher quality food, more raw food, less processed food and more movement. It's a pretty basic formula and is working like a charm.

I am setting a goal for this week of 6 days of exercise (mostly walking).  What are your goals for the next week?

Let's hear it - how did you all do this week? How much exercise were you able to get?

Killian - thanks for the swing tip :-)

Pss3 - I hope the nutramigen will help your baby like it has mine. I started seeing a difference within a couple of days. Hang in there. Yes, the price is outrageous. Soon it will cost more to feed the baby than it does his parents :-) Enfamil has a rebate program for nutramigen if you give them feedback on the product. It's a $10 rebate after purchase up to five times. I have received one rebate form and am waiting for the check. I called about getting another form and was told someone would call me during the monthly feedback calls. I did receive some coupons in the mail after I called about the rebate. The # is 1800Baby123. How old is your baby? Mine is 10 weeks.

Thanks, Faye, for letting me post not exactly on topic. I probably should join this group, though. I could stand to lose some weight :-)

Awesome, thanks a lot for posting one day journal. You are MOTIVATING AND INSPIRING. My calorie intake is around 1800 a day. I am going to cut down to 1200-1400 and try.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

Whooo hoooo on getting that meal plan on to the fridge! I am so trying that chicken next week!

  • kpeele May 4, 2011

Faye, the chicken and veggies turned out to be quite yummy! I pan cooked the chicken, then sauteed the veggies, added the tomatoes and seasoning, put the chicken back in, and let it all simmer for about 30 minutes. A little cheese on top was a nice addition too.

But the best part was that my Smart Spending Meal Plan sheet was actually hanging on the fridge! I've been doing some informal plans but this was the first official week of putting the plan on the fridge. (Yes, I know I took your meal planning class waaaaay back in January...but everything I do seems to take about 10 times longer right now with 2 kids under 2). Let's hope I can keep this up next week!

Thanks for all the tips on reflux.

lpsave-I bought the Nutramigen formula today, that is what our doctor recommended...BOY is it expensive! Good thing I follow Faye's advice or else this formula would bankrupt us! $21 for the small 3 day can.

I will look into the chiropractor if the formula switch doesn't work out.

I ran out of room on the post below so here is the continuation.

Basically, wralfan, I eat 3 small to medium meals a day with 2 to 3 snacks of 100-150 calories each in between. If I get hungry, I eat a couple carrots, a piece of fruit or a big spoonful of yogurt or cottage cheese or have a couple hard boiled egg whites. I get my sugar fix with hard candy like the jolly rancher I had today. I found some sugar free chocolate mint hard candies at CVS today at 75% off for .24 per bag so I bought a couple of those. It just comes down to discipline. Most of the time I have it, sometimes I don't (which is what got me in this position to start with). When I fall off the wagon, I just make sure I eat better at the next meal. I have one cheat day a week where I will have a dessert or something clearly not diet approved. I had a piece of Dominoes pizza last week, but I also had a salad with it and I only had one piece. I still get to eat foods I like, it's just about moderation for me.

Faye, you're going to have to update your picture soon...18.5 lbs. is a new you already!

  • wralfan1 May 4, 2011

I am jealous Faye. It would help if you put up a one day journal of what you ate/drink. Could you please. I am really trying very hard and the max I can loose is 1 pound a week. This week it was really a hard work from my side to get that 1 pound down. It included running/walking/yard work... what not? I know I have seen your weekly meal plan but I end up with lots of peanuts/almonds and not loosing like I am supposed to be.

pss3, I have to agree with j3434 bout the chiropractor thing for reflux. My little guy was pulling away from eating and screaming from the reflux until the first time he saw our chiropractor. It literally stopped after his first appointment with her (Dr. Porter!!

Tonight we're having chicken breasts with squash, zucchini, and onions, all simmered in some diced tomatoes and served over (free) whole grain pasta. I think we'll finish off the spinach and strawberry salad too.
