Wednesday weigh-in

It's Wednesday and that means it's time to fess up - how did you do this week? Lose any weight? If you are new to the Wednesday weigh-in, a number of us are doing a 25 lb weight loss challenge. But even if you only have 5 or 10 lbs to lose, please join in!

This week I lost 2 more lbs. for a total of  13.5 lbs since the challenge started 6 weeks ago. That's an average of 2.25 lbs per week - a very comfortable number to keep up week after week. I was hoping for a 3 lb loss, but did not have the time to exercise enough this week and well, I simply ate more than I should have for dinner the last 2 nights. 

I am really happy that there have been some very good fresh produce prices in the last couple weeks including .99/lb grapes, .99/lb squash, Florida tomatoes (which were delicious) at a local roadside stand for $1.50/lb, and more. Strawberry season is here so we will be eating plenty of those yummy berries in the next few weeks. I promise not to dip them (all) in chocolate like I did Monday night! :-)

    It's funny how a little exercise and healthy eating can make a difference. I went for a walk yesterday and ate really healthy choices and lost another lb as of this morning making total loss 14.5 lbs. since the challenge began. I am hoping this rain clears out this afternoon so I can go for another walk before teaching tonight.

    Let's all make some healthy choices today!

    Very good suggestion Nancy!! I love salad,but due to prices find myself only buying the bagged mixes or heads of lettuce when they're on sale!! So, unfortunately I'm enjoying salad every now and then :(.

    For anyone who is a big salad lover, I have a suggestion?

    If you have a food vacuum system, you can buy fresh lettuce (take your pick on variety), cut it up and then vacuum seal portions ready to open and enjoy at a moments notice.

    I have found that by doing that (I use a 2:1 ratio of Romaine and Iceberg) I can buy fresh for less than the bagged mixes and these will stay fresh for well over a week in the crisper drawer :)

    Makes enjoying salads as easy as cutting open a vacuum sealed portion.

    Yes, the vacuum seal bags are costly but for the love of fresh salad, I think it's worth it :)

    pss, if you're craving fatty or salty, how about a handful of seeds or nuts. They're packed with good fats, have plenty of protein and lots of micronutrients.

    Just a thought.

    i'm down 2 pounds from monday! i think it is because i have finally cut way back on the diet drinks and am now staying hydrated with water... not so much bloating anymore! i have also been exercising 5 times a week for the past month, and trying to build up muscle. i would love to lose 15 pounds, but would be happy to lose 10 as long as i am toned... i'm turning 40 this summer and i want to do this as a birthday gift to myself! being a mom to 3 leaves me little time to myself~ i've decided it is important to make time for this!

    I so agree. I just enjoyed some of the .99/lb grapes from HT! Great job on the loss and the muscle building! Keep it up!

    I'm down 1.2lbs for the week. I'm convinced that my slow loss is because of my workout habits and so I'm very happy to be gaining muscle and burning off some fat. I have been really hungry this week and wanting to snack all the time. I've got to work on making fruits and veggies my snacks instead of cr*ckers or 100 calorie packs of cookies.

    Great job Faye! Love the fresh really makes it easier to lose weight when there are lots of cheap healthy options.
