Wednesday weigh-in:week 5

Posted April 13, 2011

It's that time again! Here we are in week 5 of the 25 lb weight loss challenge. How did you do this week?

I lost 1.5 lbs this week. Not my best week - but still a loss. At least I didn't GAIN 4 lbs like one of the contestants on The Biggest Loser last night! Yikes! I felt so badly for her. But then again, she did get to go to New Zealand to gain that weight!

After a VERY long weekend at the Southern Women's Show, I indulged in some serious pasta overload and well, I paid for it! I had very little time to exercise in the last week as well with all things focused on the weekend events.  I am back on track today and shooting for 3 lbs this week. I will definitely be doing a lot of walking in this gorgeous weather!

Total weight loss since the challenge started: 11.5 lbs.

If you are new to the blog and wondering what this is all about, click the link in the box above about the 25 lbs for the 25th reunion for all the details. And it's never too late to start the challenge, whether you have 5 or 50 to lose.

How did you all do this week????

    Great job, kab!

    Thanks for the info, jlanza!

I showed such willpower last night. I got a pizza for dinner from Cinelli's in North Hills using a Groupon. I was up that way teaching a class (so it wasn't out of my way to go to North Hills) and while it was baking, I did a quick shop at HT and got some great buys.

Here's the willpower part: I only had half a piece of pizza and veggies for dinner. Their pizza is awesome so this was a serious show of restraint on my part! LOL Whew - that was a real test!

I lost the same as you this week Faye! I'm down a total of 17.5 pounds but I started 2 weeks or so before you did. Lets all keep up the good work!

I'm just joining this blog but congrats to all who are trying. One idea I wanted to pass along is a free app on my smart phone called fitness pal. You can also log in from your computer. You can log in your exercise along with calorie intake. You can check the content of foods and it will keep you on a track for your weight loss. The best part is it's FREE!! Good luck!!

I am so sorry your little one is sick! I hope life is back to normal soon (and that you don't get sick as well).

    I don't think I lost anything. The baby's sick :(

    Great job everyone!

Love the safety pins, J - that's a GREAT sign!

I'm with Marybeth, pss. When I was working out more a couple years ago, it took longer for the lbs to come off but my clothes fit better faster. Sound slike you are doing great - and once again - we are at about the same total lost!

Totalchaos - you are too funny - maybe you can PRINT some safety pin pictures since you are back in print mode! :-)

Yum...Chinese buffet....that would have totally done me in, wralfan.

    Keep it up!

I am off to have lunch, finally. Egg Beaters with mushrooms, onions and spinach and 1 piece of whole wheat bread with fat free spray butter.

j3434 - I need safty pins too, but only to hold my pants together so I don't have to button and zip them up...lol

Nice job everyone! I'm everyone's cheerleader!! (only cuz I didn't lose any this week) =) Must have been those fundraiser cookies, I thought I heard someone say they were diet...or maybe that was the pepsi that I was drinking with the cookies!

i'm doing pretty good. lost 1 or 2 pounds? like i said before, my scale is tricky. ;) BUT i have walked a lot. i have a new favorite place to walk. the ncsu arboretum is 1/2 mile from my work with a couple hills on the way. there's something new to see every time i go! today i will walk to the vet school, though, to pick up an Rx for my doggie. it's supposed to be about 1 mile walk each way. i gotta get some safety pins to the waistband of these pants, though, or they're gonna drive me nuts. that's a good sign, right?! good job faye and everyone!

What marybeth said. On top of factoring in how you feel, have you taken any measurements? I used to take measurements when I was working out because muscle is denser than fat, and if I lost a pound of fat but gained a pound of muscle, the scale wouldn't tell me that, but a quick measurement of my waistline or thighs would clue me in.

pss3 ... remember if you are working out you are building muscle and it weighs more than fat. Go by how you feel and only use the scale as one factor!
