Oh! And, thanks, Faye, for the info. I just sent a text to several friends and made them very happy! :)

If I can afford to do so, I give the value of whatever I'm getting free to the charity. For example, if a short stack is $4, I give $4 to the charity.

For me, I would think on a couple of things, how many people are you going with and how important is that charity for you? That's my take on it anyway. The charities I really care about, I support more than I do other charities, not that I am saying they are bad, it's just I have ones that I am more passionate than others. Most charities are for a worthy cause, so I don't mind supporting a little something to those that actually say do what they say they are going to do with it.

talk about being a downer twc. personally I think 5 dollars is right to donate

Ain't nothing free at ihop! Get a drink to go with the "free" pancakes and they haven't lost a penny.

The donations to Miracle Cure are great but I wouldn't be surprised if they came out on top with a huge tax break; therefore passing it on to the taxpayers.

Good question, Melissa. I think whatever you are comfortable with is the right amount. How's that for vague!

Anyone else have a good rule of thumb they use?

Faye- What do you think an "appropriate" donation would be? I'm often unsure on these things!
