Smart Shopper Faye Prosser shared her wisdom about saving money on your grocery bill with about 100 people at a workshop in the WRAL studios Saturday.

Two participants, Connie and Susie, said they wanted to fine-tune their knowledge of how to get the most out of coupons.

"I've always cut coupons, but I've never used them the right way, or if I had them at home, I always left them at home when I went to the grocery store," Connie said.

"I needed to know how just a little bit extra work could save a lot more money," Susie said. "For just a small family, for a family of two, it's as important as for a big family to save money."

Along with tips on using coupons, Faye taught about store promotions and meal planning. Susie and Connie said they picked up some practical lessons.

"I learned up about how you don't need to go to extreme couponing, how you can do it and actually have extra supplies at home, but not go to the point where you're a fanatic about it," Susie said.

"I didn't know that you could use the store coupons that you get from the flyers along with the manufacturers' coupons all together," Connie said.

Connie was motivated when she left the workshop.

"We're ready to go to the grocery store," she declared.
