Ahhh, that makes sense triplettk - the new barcode as the old one is marked through. Yup, that would make the register beep. Good to know. I wonder if telling the cashier "I have a coupon for that item, but it will beep because the barcode won't match with the markdown" and they would be able to override it without a lot of hassle?

I know one cashier at one of the HT's I go to would be able to tell me, she's a manager as well as often on a register, she's super efficient.

Beware of that HT at Cary Towne Center. They also do not double "no not double" coupons.

I think one of the biggest hiccups of HTs not accepting man. coupons on clearance items is that the computer doesn't recognize a "match." Since they put a new barcode sticker on it when they mark it down, it doesn't ring up as Cover Girl (for example), but instead as HBC markdown. Then the Cover Girl coupon doesn't have anything to match with - it beeps - a manager comes over. I've always been lucky with the managers entering the coupons, but I guess some don't.

Oh look, a better deal on cat litter. Great.

Target has 28 lb A&H at 9.99, buy 2 get a $5 GC. Not a better deal, but that's what we got.

On a brighter note, I had an A&H litter Q (must have been cut out from an old All You before I tossed it because it's not in the N&O spreadsheet) for $3 off. Check your old All You mags for Qs. I know I need to cut some out of February still.

Ok, now I can understand Faye, didn't think about the double factor on the clearance price - but still, some of the clearance prices are not as good as sale prices LOL

Nancy, I have received e-mails in the past from folks who said their HT would not let them use a Man. coupon on clearance. I can understand, actually. They are already losing money having to clearance it and then if the coupon is doubled, they lose the doubled amount as well. It hasn't happened to me, but I have not bought an HT clearance deal in a while.

    Thanks for the info Stephie!

Today at the Cameron Village HT I found the Scrubbing Bubble Extend-a-Clean on clearance for 50% off at $4.98. Pair that with the $5 off coupon from a while back and you get them for FREE!!! Awesome deal and I must say they work really! Hope you all find the same :)

"Some HT's will not and I am curious about that location." - Faye

Really? I don't understand why they wouldn't, they get reimbursed the same for the coupon whether the item is clearanced or not :( Just like when they have a sale, coupon value is still reimbursed....that's so odd Faye!

momboozer, if I were you, I would print out the coupon policy and have it with you :) And make sure you never use that particular cashier again LOL Also, to be certain it's not the managers stance, you might want to talk to the manager before you shop next time. If he/she states it's their policy, I would mosey on down to another HT somewhere else to shop.

I won't shop at the HT in Holly Springs out on 55 bypass because the manager won't double coupons that state "do not double" on them - he rang me up once during a mystery shop and told me that. I was shocked! I told him all the other HT's I've done shopping with do, his reply was "Well, they could get in trouble!" LOL

    ~sigh~

  • momboozer Feb 9, 2011

Thanks Nancy. I looked on the HT website but could not find that info. This particular store was the one at the Cary Town Center. I had even sorted my cps with the double values in front. Next time I will be better informed.

  • mytrish Feb 9, 2011

I didn't have any coupons for that so I don't know. Sorry.
