Friday freebies AND giveaway 1/28!

Posted January 28, 2011

Surprise! I know I usually do a giveaway on the first Friday of each month (and the giveaway next week is a great one!), but I have another giveaway for this week! Happy day!

The giveaway for this week is for 3 Groupon coupons to Blinco’s Sports Restaurant and Bar at 6711 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. Soooo, there will be THREE winners this week!

Each Groupon is worth $20 and a food item must be purchased. I think you can also use it for drinks, but there needs to be at least one food item as well. Must use in 1 visit, dine-in only, not valid for food or drink specials or with other offers.

The coupons expire on February 10th so please enter the giveaway only if you can use the coupon by February 10. Click HERE for the Blinco's website.

To enter, post a frugal Valentine’s Day idea including inexpensive ways to say I Love You to your loved ones. With Valentine’s just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about creative and fun ways to show the love!

I will randomly draw the 3 winning names on Tuesday, February 1 at 11:00 AM andpost the winning names shortly after 11. Good luck everyone!

One time I cut out a bunch of hearts on Red construction paper and put little notes on them and hid them everywhere all over the apartment and she was still finding them months later! She loved it!

For our first Valentine's Day as a dating couple my husband and I decided to cook for each other. We both took a weekend and cooked meals for each other. I got Valentine's Day and he got the next weekend. We were able to have steak, potatoes, biscuits and brownies for one meal and Chicken, rice casserole, green beans, yeast rolls and chocolate cake for the other. We spent the same amount on two meals in that we would have spent battling the crowds in a restaurant to get 2 steak dinners! We also made each other large poster card sized cards and rented movies for after dinner. That is the most memorable Valentine's Day I have had in our 7 years together!

Thank you for sharing such wonderful and frugal ways to say I Love You! And some of you have some super creative husbands. I don't see any arts and crafts happening with my husband, but I am pretty sure there will be chocolate coming my way - which definitely works! LOL

Valentine's Day 1999 was my boyfriend (now husband) and I's 1 year anniversary. I cut out 365 hearts and wrote on each one fun memories and reasons I love him. I put them in a red mailbox and told him to read 1 each day for the next year of reasons I love him :)

last year my husband made me a card and cut out little hearts nand cute stuff on the front. On the inside he made up a story about me and how he saved me from the other "evil men" trying to win me over! it was funny because he was a knight and was slaying dragons in the cute. The best part was he cut out pictures of our faces and drew bodys on us(him in a knight get up and me in a dress) was the best present ever!

I keep an eye out in advance of special days, like St. V's, his birthday and our anniversary, for knock your socks off deals that I can spin into a special meal. Previous scores have included those vacuum sealed filet mignons getting close to expiration for $1 each and pounds of ground lamb, again approaching expiration, for $1 a pound. Ground lamb makes FANTASTIC burgers and meatloaf, though admittedly I change the seasoning selection to compliment the meat. Failing an awesome meat sale, I'll splurge and get a tub of ricotta and make my *not quite world famous* lasagna. Mmmm, lasagna.

My wife and daughters always bake a homemade strawberry cake for Valentine's Day and share it with our close relatives. It is always a big hit and fairly inexpensive to make.
