Harris Teeter Super Doubles rumor!

Posted December 31, 2010

The rumor is out on various deals sites including, and that Harris Teeter will be having the very awesome Super Doubles promotion from January 5 - January 11. We will have confirmation in the next couple days but it's looking good at this point.

I will start working on a good deals list, but feel free to post any deals you know of using current coupons and regular prices. There will be 4 sections of coupons in the Sunday paper so there should be some good deals with all those coupons!

The holiday is now over - get back to your coupons! ;-)

Coupon policy during Super Doubles

* HT begins super doubling coupons at 7:00 AM on the first day of the sale. 24 hour stores do not super double coupons before 7:00 AM on the first day (at least that is how it has worked in the past).

* HT will Super Double coupons worth up to $1.98 face value. A $1.50 coupon will double to $3.00. A $1.00 coupon will double to $2.00. A $2.00 coupon will not double at all and will only be taken at face value ($2.00).

* HT will super double/double up to 20 coupons per day. Period. End of story. Spouse's cards registered with the same address are linked because the policy is 20 per household, per day. If you have 20 $1 coupons and 20 .75 coupons, only 20 total will double. They will not double 20 under $1 coupons and super double another 20 coupons that are over $1.

* HT policy is to double up to 3 identical coupons (as long as you buy the product required for each coupon, of course). So, if you have five $1.00 coupons for a product, the policy is to only super double the first three.

I was just saying the other day that I was ready for SD or triples or something! So, I'm tickled to hear about possible SD.

And as far as the cheating goes, please, everyone, play by the rules. If stores start taking away coupon privileges, I know that I am not the only one whose ability to buy food will be severely impacted.

    Yeah! What she said.

    Cheating is no fun...

  • Nancy Jan 1, 2011

Cheating hurts all of us, all the time. I know I've been to a HT early in the morning on SD's events and saw a woman with her two sons with three carts, one for each account she was using. Trouble is, it was the same items in each cart, almost identical. She gave phone numbers instead of a physical card to scan, which might be legal, but it doesn't make it right.

She had school age boys with her, 7am in the morning, I'm sure they were woken up early to drag them to the store before taking them to school too, very sad. She had them running all over the store grabbing things to put in various carts. I happened to check out behind her.

I have shopped for my daughter and my brother in the past and used their physical cards, but never back to back checkouts and usually on days I was not doing my own shopping. But that was to help them since my daughter works 40-60 hrs a week plus takes business admin college classes in her 'spare time' and my brother can't walk anymore to speak of.

Faye, I agree with your comment about cheating too!! Harris Teeter has been one of the best stores for me to find deals in. I would hate to see Doubles and the occasional Triples promotions taken away because of someone abusing the system. Yes you can get another card and double your savings but what savings will you have when they quit offering such great deals. Please ntheweeds, don't abuse the system!!!

Well said, Faye (about not cheating or being greedy). That's also how couponers get a bad name. And what the stores giveth by offering triples/Super Doubles promotions, they can taketh away if policies are abused.

skewlteacher - here is a link to my website with a list of legit printable coupon sites:

Hope that helps! Congrats on the new baby!

While that is true, ntheweeds, the policy is in place to keep folks from clearing the shelves & preventing everyone else from enjoying the deals. It all goes back to ethical couponing, which I feel very strongly about & have blogged about here many times. Simply because you can do something unethical to get more free stuff, does not mean you should do it. In addition, the stores do watch who goes through the line & will stop people when they see they have gone through a second time in the same store. I have seen it happen. There are people who post about going to different stores using their card, their mom's card, their neighbor's dog's card so they could get lots more than those following the rules. I don't condone it & I really don't want it posted here when people are clearly breaking the rules. In the end, there will always be ways to get around some policies. My hope is that people understand that there are so many good deals all the time that you don't have to cheat to be frugal

skewlteachr - I agree with Nancy - those sites are my main three along with

Harris Teeter is so stupid. If you want to double more than the 20 coupons daily all you have to do is have another VIP card registered under a different address and there is NO way for them to track you

  • Nancy Jan 1, 2011

skewlteachr -, and and check them often, they add coupons a few times a month!
