Roadside produce stands reminder

Posted October 24, 2010

Here's a reminder to check out your local roadside produce stands for some great deals! Yesterday I picked up green peppers for .50 each, cucumbers for .50 each and sweet potatoes for .69/lb (which we will be enjoying for dinner tonight).  These deals came from the produce stand in the 40/42 area at Ten Ten Road and Cornwallis across from Cleveland Elementary in Johnston County. Nice folks, great prices!

Where are your favorite Triangle area roadside stands?

I will definitely take your "walk it off" advice next time we are eating ice cream and picking berries at Porters! Thanks for the "healthy" tip, sherman. :-)

At Porter Farms... coffee bean ice cream - FABULOUS! If you eat first and then walk to pick, you can convince yourself that you're walking it off :)

We make the drive the farmer's market almost every weekend. We have a standard list of things to buy - like the $.50 peppers - but we always give the kids $2 or $3 and let them buy something they want - they are sure to eat it that way! And sometimes they really surprise me!

OH've done it now. Someone said boiled peanuts. I'll be down there Saturday for sure!

We love Porter Farms ice cream on hwy 42, drswayney! And of course we pick strawberries there every year.

I agree, superturfguy - really nice folks at L & G. Haven't tried the peanuts yet, but it's on the list now, total.

Thanks for the Holly Springs location, jzka!

Sunset Lake Rd. in Holly Springs between Main St. and Holly Springs Rd. - super cheap fresh produce, homemade lemonade and he whittles great walking canes while he's waiting for customers!
