Free NC State Fair admission on Thursday with canned food donations!

Posted October 20, 2010

Thursday is Food Lion Hunger Relief Day at the NC State Fair and you can get free admission with a donation of 4 canned goods on Thursday, October 21!

This is one of the largest one-day canned food drives in the state and benefits the Food Bank of Eastern and Central NC.

Updated to add that the website does indicate that you need to donate 4 cans of Food Lion brand food although others have said they got in last year with name brand cans.

It does specify Food Lion brand canned food on the Food Bank website as well.

Last year, we brought other brands and were let in...I don't think they really care as long as you have cans! I think they are just advertising for Food Lion since they are the sponsor. Also, any gate will take them to my knowledge.

On the other hand, click on the link above - it DOES say Food Lion Brand... =\

I've never heard of it being Food Lion Brand only... We went two years ago on "free day" and brought name brand items with us. There was no designated gate to my recollection. :)

Fairgoers can bring four cans of Food Lion brand food to the N.C. State Fair on Thursday, Oct. 21, to exchange for one free admission ticket.

Is there a special gate we have to enter or is any gate ok? Thanks

Is this for any canned goods or just FoodLion Brand?
