Grocery deals 9-29

Posted September 29, 2010
Updated September 30, 2010

Wow – this has turned out to be such an interesting week for grocery deals! Food Lion is having a huge BOGO sale with tons of very good buys. Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter have a P&G promotion where you buy $25 worth of products and receive a pink kitchen set by mail. Lowes Foods has boneless chicken breast for $1.79/lb, eggs for .25 a dozen with coupon and some good Fresh Rewards Deals. Harris Teeter has a number of .99 produce deals and a good sale on Boca Burgers (hurray!).  Kroger is back with another 10 for $10 sale including some very good produce buys. I have to tell you, Food Lion is really working it this week. It took me more time to do the Food Lion deals than ever before. Please share any other good deals you find!

FYI - there are a number of printable coupons from bettycrocker.com and pillsbury.com that match well with this week's sales. Because it is the end of the month, many of those coupons have no available prints left. BUT - the coupons should reset on October 1 (Friday) so you can print them then and use them with this weeks sales.

Lowes Foods
September 28– October 5

Lowes Coupon Policy Basics:

Doubles coupons .99 or less everyday

Doubles up to 20 coupons per day

Doubles up to 4 identical coupons (must have required product to go with each coupon)

BOGO sales ring up at half price. If you just buy one, it still rings up at half price and you can still use a coupon on it! I love that policy!

This week’s Lowes Foods promotion is a 10 Item Mega Event: Earn $5 fresh rewards cash when you buy any 10 participating products in a single transaction (using Lowes Foods fresh rewards card). There is a long list of Lowes Foods brand items on the front page of the ad. Basically, it’s like getting a .50 rebate per item. The prices are not listed in the ad but feel free to post any great buys you find and I will do the same once I have a chance to check the online shopping prices.

There is also a Proctor and Gamble promotion: purchase $25 of P & G products in one transaction and get a free pink kitchenware set from Good Cook’s Hope line by mail. The promotion details are in the ad. There were a bunch of P&G coupons that match the items on sale in Sunday’s paper.

cjohnson - If you bought at least $8 worth before coupons, the $3 should have come off at the register. Since it did not, the manager should have refunded you the $3. Next step is to call corporate. They may or may not give you a refund because after coupons, your total is less than $8.

Thanks for sharing your deals, stepbak! $50 savings is a a lot!

I went to FL this morning and bought $31 worth for $7 including 3 bags baby peeled carrots,1 green pepper, head of lettuce, 2 bags shredded Kraft cheese, 10 Kraft American cheese and cream cheese items (used 2 of the $5/5 coupons and they manually entered them with no issue).

I went to foodlion and used some coupons ont he BOGO stuff. The charcoal is a really great deal because they are 3.49 for just one bag and it is nice size. Another good deal was I got a bottle of Eucerine lotion for 3.74 and it was on close out. That lotion is expensive!! But all in all my total on the things I purchased was 77.89 and with MVP it was 41.87 then with my coupons in went all the way down to 28.11!!!!!!!! Saved close to 50.00 in one shopping trip!!!!!! Thanks foodlion!!

Nancy or Faye, I need some help. I tried the Glade scenario that Nancy posted at the beginning of the week and had a problem. I was able to use the B1G1 coupon and the $1.50 off, and got the $2 OYNO but when it came to getting the $3 instant rebate, it didn't show. At the bottom of the receipt there was a section saying "Congratulations, You have received $3 off of your shopping order. Thank you for participating in the Food Lion Glade promotion." Nowhere in the receipt was the $3 off reflected. I spoke to the Asst. Manager and he told me the rebate was from the coupons that I used and would do nothing for me. Is he wrong in his logic? What should I do?

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Oct 2, 2010

J - I totally understand. I am still getting caught up on my organizer since super doubles, but I am almost there! One more Sunday night TV show and it will be back in tip top form!

  • j3434 Oct 1, 2010

thanks, faye! i should go through my stash (don't even ask me about my lack of organization lately...) b/c i might have another 1 of 2 of the $1/1's somewhere.

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Oct 1, 2010

    Hi J - here is a $1/2 coupon:

    http://www.nabiscoworld.com/100caloriepack/

The $1 coupons were on the Kraft diabetes coupons link I posted about a week ago. Those were the coupons that reached max print so quickly. It also had the Boca coupon:

    http://www.kraftrecipes.com/healthy-living-ideas/diabetes-center/coupons.aspx

Looks like the Nabisco coupons are all gone.

I didn't get the 100 cal packs as an e-vic in today HT e-mail. I did get the Fiber Plus cereal for $1.59, though, so after .75 coupon doubled = 9 cents! Got to love some 9 cent fiber! :-)

  • j3434 Oct 1, 2010

faye, do you remember where the nabisco 100 cal pack q's are? i used my 2 last night at target getting snacks for a soccer game...then today i see it's evic for 1.49! i paid 2.49 (minus my 1 q) each last night!!

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Oct 1, 2010

Yep - we have that same issue at my house so I shop w/out hubby (and kids, when possible).

Great job on saving half, HG!

  • Harleygirlie Oct 1, 2010

Saved over 1/2 my grocery bill, it would have been BETTER if DH wasn't shopping with me. Never again. LOL

jim - Most Harris Teeter, Kroger and Lowes foods stores will double coupons that say do not double if the bar code starts with a 5. Bar codes that start with a 9 will not double. Those that start with a 5 will automatically double at the register and we are lucky that most of our area stores let them automatically double. We are very grateful they are willing to double them. I used 4 coupons yesterday at the Lowes on Tryon in Cary and all 4 doubled so each dozen was .25. I hope that helps.
