Great coupon request adventure week 4!

Published: 2010-09-20 12:50:00
Updated: 2010-09-20 17:06:37

We in the home stretch of the Great Coupon Request Adventure challenge and your mailbox should be filling up with bunches of coupons for the items you use!

What coupons did you get this week?

The total value in coupons I have received so far as of 9/19 is $72.85.

Plenty more have indicated they are sending coupons. The total is for the face value of the coupons and many will/have been doubled (including those $1 coupons at HT this week!).

I think my best score of the week was a sheet of coupons for $1 off various Kellogg's coupons, all of which doubled at HT! Two of the coupons were for $1 of ANY Kellogg's coupon!

If you are new to the adventure, it is worth your time to read som eof the comments from the last 3 weeks to see which companies are sending out coupons and those that are not. It will save you some time if you know who is sending out the good ones! The links to the last 3 weeks of comments are found in the box above. Goof luck!

Here's how it works:

Each week for 4 weeks (we are on the 4th week now), I will contact a minimum of 25 companies/brands and request coupons for items we use. Most contact will be via the customer contact section on the manufacturer's websites and sometimes through the company's toll-free phone numbers. I'll post an update on the blog weekly with the coupons I have received from the manufacturers. My goal is to see how many valuable coupons (for products we use) I can procure in the next month and how much I will save by using those coupons. It will also be fun to see what samples and freebies some of the companies will send with the coupons! Of course, I'll take pictures and include those in the weekly post.

Sample Letter to manufacturer to request coupons:

Hello, I am writing to let you know that we really enjoy using (name of product). (Write a few things you like about the product or how it helped in a specific situation, such as an illness.) We live on a budget and try to use coupons to help us stay within the budget. If you could send any coupons or samples of (name of product) we would really appreciate it. Thank you for such a wonderful product! Sincerely, (your name)

Your role in this adventure:

Your job is to contact as many companies as you would like and request coupons from those companies as well. Each week, post the coupons you have received or the companies you contacted on The Great Coupon Request Adventure blog post for the week. Everyone who makes a post will then be entered into the random drawing for one of 3 envelopes full of coupons! You can enter each week, so be sure to share your contacts and coupons received on each weekly blog post. If you enter each week, you will have 4 entries, increasing your chances of winning! You can post as many times as you want, but you can only earn one entry per week.

At the end of the four weeks, September 27, I'll randomly draw three names from all the entries. Each of the three winners will win an envelope full of coupons and whatever rebates I have available. The drawing will be held at 11:00 AM and the winners will be announced soon after.

So, what's in your mailbox?

I received 2 coupons for $2 each from Purina today. Hillshire Farm says they are sending a coupon.

Got turned down from Tropicana, Breyers & Minute Maid today.

Darlingfemme, it may help if you look at some of the posts that indicate people have received coupons. If you contact those companies (if you use those products of course)you may have more successes.

got my birds eye over the weekend, still waiting for more!

I was turned down by a bunch of companies today :/ but I got a coupon from Sunny D today!

I got 6 from Heinz for various products, 3 from Del Monte; a free pedometer and coupons from Nature's Bounty; I also got samples of Nexxus shampoo/conditioner.

I keep getting a bunch of no's. Oh well, maybe I will have better luck next week. I still haven't heard from a couple so maybe they will respond with good news.

No coupons in my mailbox today and I am so sad. In the past few days I did receive coupons from Johnsonville 2 1.00 off any Johnsoville sauage, (3) .75 from olde hearth bagels, (3) from dannon (2) .50 off and Dannon product and one for a free product up to $5.00, and 1.00 0ff Fleischmann's yeast product. I am truly pleased with the outcome of this adventure.

Yesterday I got a coupon from De Boles in the mail for free pasta (up to $2.50). I am super excited because I eat their gluten free pasta all the time! They also enclosed a coupon for 55 cents off a Martha Stewart cleaning product.

I was turned down by Lean Cuisine today!

Just to clarify - I do not hope that your mail box was run over, I hope it is overflowing with coupons! ;-)

It was a sad day in coupon request land. No coupons in the mail and shot down by Nesquik and Old El Paso. Hoping tomorrow brings happier responses. Also hoping your mailbox runneth over.

I think I will be e-mailing Cabot cheese first today! :-) Thanks for sharing everyone!

Thanks for the diaper deal, kcampbell!

Forgot to mention another decent deal. Target has many diapers that if you buy 2 you get a $5 gift card. Target has a Target coupon on their website for $3 off Huggies Pure & Natural that can be stacked with the $3 off coupon that has been on coupons.com giving you $6 off a box. If you take into account the gift card I paid $11.40 for a box of 56 diapers.

I've only sent a few out but did get 3 coupons for .55 off Fresh Express salad. I am hoping some others will show up in the mail. Did get $16 in rebate checks today from beer companies even though we don't drink!

Received 1 coupon for free Dr. Pepper, 2.50 off bounce. Utilized coupons at HT today and saved 103.50 and spent 85....but will be checking with HT tomorrow b/c I think they did not give me credit for all of the $3 off 3 kraft purchases (I bought 10 to utilize the two $5 off coupons and should have gotten $9 off from the store program but only got $3 off). Thanks for the info and help with saving $$$$$!

Great job Lapiz Lady! You saved a bunch on Super Doubles!
