First, text them the word Purina to 467467.  They respond back that the discount has been added to your Food Lion MVP card. If you have not received text deals in the past, you will need to have your MVP card number ready. When they respond back to your text, you will need to enter your card number. You won't have to do this every time, just on the first text.  Then, the discount is added to your card and when you scan your card at the register and then scan your item, the discount will come off automatically. I have received free cereal, candy bars and lots of discounts with the Food Lion texts. They usually send me a text every couple weeks with an offer. hippo, I think your coupon for the milk will double. Whenever I have them mine do.

Nancy, thanks for that. I think I might just stick a wedge in there and see how it comes out. All in all I think it will be ok to just keep them in the fridge. The 2 I bought last weekend don't expire until sometimes in 2011, so I just need to check and and then pick some w/dates just as long if I do it again this weekend I think.

I'm doing the happy dance however because I have gotten 2 flyers of coupons from HT this week and one of them was the 5.00 off 40.00 order ones! They don't start until next Weds but hey, I can wait! :-)

  • Nancy Aug 26, 2010

Happygirl - freezing cheese is ok, just know that block style cheese (not shredded) does tend to become more crumbly after freezing, but with Laughing Cow, that might be a little different given it's texture and heavy wax wrapping? But yes, all cheese can be frozen ;)

  • hippohappy1 Aug 26, 2010

On the Harris Teeter Shamrock Milk deal, the coupon I have says you can't duplicate it. It would steal be a good deal at .50 each though.

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Aug 26, 2010

You are so right, Stephanie - I will amend the post to read that you can get 5 cans of beans and the manwich for $1 after using 4 coupons. Not sure what I was thinking but thanks for catching it! An even less expensive option would be to get 4 cans of beans, 1 can Manwich and 1 Peter Pan pb, use a coupon for each can of beans and for the PB and only pay .59 plus tax. Thanks again!

  • senglish27529 Aug 25, 2010

Hey Faye, for the free pork and beans scenario (at Lowes), you mention using 5 coupons for the same product. Wouldn't Lowes limit us to 4 of the same coupon?

I probably don't have 5 coupons anyway, but I'd love to get as many free canned goods as I can for the local food pantry!

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Aug 25, 2010

Thanks CHC - you are correct - you can;t use the Catalina for a specific product with a Man coupon for the same product. The Catalina register coupons are manufacturer coupons.

  • KrackinUp Aug 25, 2010

do you know if Harris Teeter will honor a coupon that prints out at checkout together with a manufacturer's coupon for the same item? Ex. .75/2 register coupon for yogurt + $1 off man. coupon for same yogurt. Thanks!

I'm not Faye but I do work at HT ;)

No, we do not accept both the register coupons and the mailer/blinkie/etc coupons for 1 of the same product. You can buy 2 and then we'll use both. Also be aware (if you are not)the Catalina (register) coupons do not double.

  • HappyGirl08 Aug 25, 2010

At the HT I like to use they will not. I think the catalinas are considered manufacturers coupons so that is why.

  • triplettk Aug 25, 2010

Faye - do you know if Harris Teeter will honor a coupon that prints out at checkout together with a manufacturer's coupon for the same item? Ex. .75/2 register coupon for yogurt + $1 off man. coupon for same yogurt. Thanks!

  • triplettk Aug 25, 2010

The cetaphil coupons say there are none available to print.
Also, Food Lion in Morrisville will not take printable/internet coupons. : (
I got huge mangoes yesterday at Wal Mart - Brier Creek for .57 each!
