380 million eggs have now been recalled because of their possible ties to a salmonella outbreak in a number of states. According to an Associated Press article, even North Carolina has seen some salmonella spikes or clusters of suspicious cases .  Most of the investigations have involved restaurants in California, Colorado, Minnesota and North Carolina.

According to the article, "The eggs were distributed around the country and packaged under the names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemp."  Wright Country Egg in Galt, Iowa issued a nationwide voluntary recall of shell eggs on August 13, 2010.

In the end, I always cook my eggs thoroughly and try hard to resist licking the spoon when I finish mixing up a batch of brownies!
