The most frugal thing I did this week was getting the meat for my salads for cheap. Went to Food Lion and found Perdue chicken breast "Short Cuts" normally $3.79 on clearance(must eat quickly) for $1.22. Had a $1.00 coupon for the Perdue chicken and w/ tax-free bonus paid 22 cents for the package. Divided the meat up into 3 portions and literally paid a little more than 7 cents a serving for the chicken for each salad. Total cost of salad w/ chicken, lettuce, cheese, celery, sunflower seeds, croutons, cottage cheese, turkey bacon bits and salad dressing?...about a $1.00 a salad...that's 3 lunches at work out of 5 for the week for $3.00. However, all other products for my salads were either bought with coupons(doubled or tripled) or bought from clearance or "day-old" shelves. But the meat is usually the most expensive item in a meal. Bon appetit!

I used a BOGO coupon to take a friend to dinner for her birthday. I purchased her gift from Amazon using a gift card I received as a reward for logging my workouts on Blue Points (Blue Cross reward program) and gave her Bath and Body Works hand soap I got for free. She was thrilled with the dinner and gift, and as a couponer herself was even more excited when I owned up and told her the only money I spent was for her dinner, and even that was BOGO!

Last week HT had BOGO on their deli chef meals, normally $6-7 for most of them. Many of them are quite good, and with an extra veggie one of them is enough for two people. Had the Moroccan Chicken with some steamed broccoli for a very tasty meal in five minutes; under $4 for two people. Also at HT, splurged on a single breakfast pastry that was BOGO (half price) with an attached coupon for an actually cost less than $0.50 for 4 servings.

Blew my savings elsewhere on a rather good $4 wine, a couple of glasses complemented the Moroccan chicken. While I can cook meals that cost less, they take time. This was a nice dinner for two with wine for $6.

Bought a number of those prepared HT dinners; many types can be frozen for later (chicken tikka) without any problem, but I suspect that some would not hold up very well.

Purchased miniature cupcakes for a gathering rather than regular size. They were 1/2 the cost for the same number and we still had some left over!
