Monday meal plan 7-26

Posted July 25, 2010

Can you guess what we are having ALOT of this week - homegrown tomatoes! We are also enjoying chicken kabobs, grilled London broil and cheesecake.

Monday

Grilled London broil (1.79 lbs on sale a couple weeks ago for $2.79/lb - $1 coupon found on in-store display) - $3.99

Grilled squash and zucchini from the garden with Italian dressing - .25

Corn .20 per ear at my local Lowes Foods through 7/27 (the Lowes at Hwy 42 and Hwy 50 in Garner area – not sure if this is the price at other Lowes Foods locations)

Total for meal for 4 people: $5.04

Tuesday

Ravioli (frozen Celantano cheese ravioli BOGO last week for $2.50) – I usually prepare the ravioli baked in the oven with the sauce, cheese and veggies but I am trying not to run the oven too much in this heat, so they will be boiled on the stovetop for this meal.

Pasta sauce with added homegrown tomatoes - $1.00

Salad with…. you guessed it – with more homegrown tomatoes (and romaine, carrots and cukes)- $1.50

Grapes (.99/lb at Kroger this week) - .50

Tomato ice cream - just kidding J

Total for meal for 4 people: $5.50

Wednesday

Breakfast Casserole (we didn’t end up having it last week so it’s on this weeks menu using the eggs on sale at Kroger this week at .99 for 18 count)

Sauteed squash (from the garden) and onions

Cantaloupe (on sale at Food Lion for $1.25 through 7/27)

Thursday

I am working late so hubby is in charge of dinner.

Cheese quesadillas with various toppings including lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, salsa (cheese was free from Kroger last week with the great promo and Catalina deal and the tortillas were $1.00 per package at Kroger last week)

Rice

Peaches (.99/lb at Kroger through 7/31 and $1.29/lb at Harris Teeter through 7/27)

Friday

Chicken Kabobs with grilled chicken, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, peppers and onions

Pasta salad

Cheesecake - see easy and delicious recipe at link in box above (using free Philly Neufchatel lowfat cream cheese from Kroger deal last week, low fat sour cream, fresh blueberries from the farmer’s market as the topping)

Saturday

Not sure yet….may be eating with friends

Sunday

Grilled Butterball turkey hot dogs (free with sale and .75 coupon at Lowes Foods through 7/27)

Hot dog buns (usually on sale for $1 somewhere each week during the summer – they are on sale at Kroger for $1 through 7/31)

Garlic red potatoes (recipe in box above)

Green beans (from my aunt’s garden – sooo good!)

So the rumor this week on HT promos is possible super doubles 8/4 - 8/10, but won't have confirmation until Friday or Saturday. Will let you know as soon as I do!

I do love tomatoes...but not enough to make cheesecake out of them. :-p
