krelios - great idea! That's exactly what I requested (and received) for my birthday!

Wash and detail his car. A professional place might charge $60 or more for a thorough detailing that you can do for next to nothing with a cheap set of brushes and sponges and a little bit of cleaner.

For Father's Day, I'd say just get a charcoal grill for the dad. Easy to use, relatively cheap and if you have a son it's a great bonding experience for the two to cook the food together.

For Father's Day, rather than giving away my money to retailers, I spend my time and effort in helping our children create a really unique and special Father's Day card. Using our printer, we typically add special photographs of the family, art found online for free, and coupons for Dad's favorite things - a free day to use however he wants, one get-out-of-doing-the-lawn free card (!), any meal of his choosing. It's much more personal than a tie and a store-bought card and it goes into our "keep" file - to look at when we're old(er) and gray(er)!
Thank you to all who've shared their ideas. I just love SmartShopper!

Music was always an important part of our household and I have my Dad to thank for introducing me to so many bands and different genres of music. So, for Father's Day and Mother's Day one year, I made a 2-cd "soundtrack" for each of my parents that contained songs that held some special meaning in my mind. I then typed a paragraph explaining the memory or thought associated with the song and printed everything out on different papers to make a really nice CD booklet.

My parents were absolutely stunned and loved it. The best thing is if I get to missing my Momma or Daddy, I can pop in those CDs and instantly be taken back to those precious memories. Assuming you have all the CDs that contain those important songs, this is a really cheap gift (though a bit time-consuming:))

We cook a homemade meal, our kids make homemade gifts, and we just hang out.

My husband and son love to salt water fish. I plan on packing a picnic basket and sending them out to the beach for the day. Hope they enjoy!

Thank you for all your fabulous ideas!

That piccolo serenade sounds so sweet, April! My daughter plays the trumpet. Do you think my husband would like a wake up trumpet "serenade"?! :-)

You can find some major bargains with those 50% off Michael's coupons, ang! Love the t-shirt/handprint idea.

I love to hear about all the frugal meals using those coupons.

    Keep those ideas coming!
