So Krogers has a new batch of coupons you can add to your card... but if you add those you cannot use a MQ with them at the same time?? Is that correct? Faye, do you just not add those coupons in case you get a better MQ in the paper? Because honestly, I will not even remember which coupons I've added to my card "virtually" so I'm not likely to take advantage of them 'knowingly.' Do you find Kroger tends to make a good sale on these items just on the isles and having their virtual coupon loaded on your card is a real added bonus??? Unsure what to do...

dkg - Coke will be on sale at CVS starting 6/6 for $3.50 plus earn $2 ECB when you buy 2 making them $2.50 per 12 pack after sale and ECB - a pretty good price.

  • t0tAlChA0s Jun 5, 2010

Hey Nancy! I too was wondering what happened to you and why you were being so Good to know all is well. Safe travels and we do miss you...sniff sniff =)

  • Nancy Jun 5, 2010

Ahhh, Faye, you're too good to me :) I'm pretty well stashed at home as well as what we brought up here, the poor car, tail end just a draggin' but still managed to get 33 mpg with the air on and filled to the brim (right up to the top of the back seat as well as every inch of the trunk space). Camry - gotta love them!

I haven't bought much so far, but they don't mind ANY coupon I've presented so far at all! And Price Chopper has a neat gas program lined up with Sunoco gas stations, for every $50 you spend, you get 10 cents off a gallon (up to 20 gallon single use on the discount). So if you spend $100 (or let it accumulate before using...) you get 20 cents off per gallon! And so on........$150 accumulated in a month = 30 cents off a gallon! Of course that is figured after coupons but still, nice touch!

Gas up here is hovering at $2.89 for regular. Sure is more expensive than back home, as always due to very high NY state tax added per gallon.

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Jun 4, 2010

Nancy - I was wondering what happened to you! So glad to hear you are still watching over us even from NY! If we have a super doubles or triples you just let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do! :-)

One of the good things I discovered about the Northeast, when I was up there last fall, is that most stores don't have the same coupon limits as ours here in NC. I was there doing some media segments on couponing so I was in a number of different grocery stores in the northeast between August and October. I was so surprised that most stores didn't care how many multiples I used or how many total coupons I doubled. There were no policies limiting either. It's a couponers dream come true when there is a good sale. It seemed to me that couponing just isn't as popular there as it is in the South so they don't limit like they do here.

Take care and keep checking in - we miss you!

  • Nancy Jun 4, 2010

I'm going through grocery store withdrawal :( I'm in northern NY state for a month and watching all the sales 'back home'! Now, they did just get a new grocery store up here in the north country, a Price Chopper that doubles up to 99 cents.

But since I packed my car to the hilt with free or near free goods to bridge us until our return, I don't need much at the local store.

~sigh~ I just KNOW there will be a triples or Super Doubles event I'll miss before I return the end of June, I just know it LOL

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Jun 3, 2010

Hi April - A good sale price for packaged lunch meat is $2.50 or less for an 8-9 oz package. I really like when the package is on sale for $2.50 and I have a coupon that takes off another .50 - $1.00 making it $2.00 or less. During Lowes triples, the Land O Lakes Bistro Favorites were on sale BOGO with .45/1 coupons on the packages. It made each package around .35 each! That was a great deal!

I am not buying any of the BOGO cereal right now with the $1/2 and $1/2 coupons because it isn't a good enough deal for me. I am well stocked from previous deals (like the free Kellogg's cereal during HT triples a couple months ago using the .70/1 Kelloggs blinkie). I did buy some Kashi cereal during HT super doubles in May for $1 per box after coupon (which was attached to the box!). That is a very good price for Kashi and we really like some of the flavors. For less healthy/cheaper cereals (like kids sugar cereals) I wait until they are .75 or less per box.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Faye. I keep seeing pepsi as well. I saw a tv commercial that walmart had 24 count can cubes for 5.00 but the last time I went to my local walmart to find them they didn't have any. I did notice one of those food lion coupon printers at the food lion in Carrboro plaza this morning though. Pretty neat but as you say, you have to really be planning to shop that day. All but one that printed for me expired today.
