Trader Joe's always has banana .19/pound & .29/pound for organic. They are only in Cary & there is a new one in Raleigh. The store is like a Whole Foods but smaller. Funky place-wine is always $2.99 (and tastes good), which takes the pain out of the pirces.

I agree - .60/lb is too much to pay for bananas. Sorry the e-mail bounced back. You can e-mail me at saving@smartspendingresources.com next time. :-)

You're welcome. I tried emailing it by replying to your smart shopper email, but it came back. LOL

Usually the Lowe's and Food Lion stores near me (HT is not close to me) have had bananas for 67 to 69 per pound, and Kroger was 29 to 31 for months. Lately they have gone to 40 something, but the other stores remain in the 60's. I prefer buying barely yellow bananas to ripen at home.

Thanks for the redplum info! For those who don't know - you can also go to cellfire.com and shortcuts.com and Kroger.com and load digital coupons to your Kroger card.

What is their regular banana price? I have been buying ripe bananas for .29/lb for so long now I don't know the last time I bought them at regular price (unless they were close to .30/lb). Good thing we like banana bread! :-) I also like that HT and Lowes often put the single not yet ripe bananas in the ripe banana bags and sell them at a discount just because they are no longer with their original bunch.

    Thanks for everything Faye.
You or someone else may have mentioned this somewhere and I missed it:
On the redplum.com website, you can load digital coupons to your Kroger Rewards card. There are $50 worth of coupons available this week. http://www.redplum.com/pages/Grocery.aspx

Faye, I've been buying their 29 cent corn since early May, and it's been the best ever from anywhere, at least at my Kroger.
Kroger has kept the price of bananas lower than other grocery stores for about a year -- that I know because I have to eat one a day.
