Friday freebies and giveaway for May 6!

Posted May 7, 2010

Not only is it Friday - which means freebie time - it’s also giveaway time! This month’s giveaway is once again from Cold Stone Creamery and it’s a coupon for a free 4-pack of cookie ice cream sandwiches. YUM! The giveaway also includes a mail in rebate form for $10 off $20 worth of meat and or seafood!

To be entered to win this giveaway, just post a comment at the bottom of this page with any ideas for celebrating Mother’s Day in a fun and frugal way.  I’ll be passing these ideas on to my family so I am really looking forward to reading your suggestions!

I’ll randomly draw the winning name on Tuesday, May 11 at 10:00 AM and post the winning name on this post at that time. Thanks to Cold Stone Creamery for their donation!

My favorite Mother's Day is a frugal one to be sure. First, we have a potluck at my house. Our family isn't too into going out to eat unless we have super coupons! ;-) Then, Mom gets to go on a peaceful day. For me, that includes a trip to the library and then to the Chapel Hill rose garden - both free and fun!

Last year we went to the WRAL azalea gardens, beautiful this time of year. This year we had Mother's Day during the week, and went to the NCMA - free admission.

Take mom to Plant's Delight nursery open house. Their plants and their property are absolutely amazing. They only have perennials and they have most of the plants growing on the property so you can see what they look like! She'll love it.

With two very busy young adults, they may not be able to be here on Sunday, but their success is something I enjoy daily, as a Mom :)

Hubby and I will wing it, but probably enjoy a nice trip to the Farmer's Market and lunch there and just enjoy a casual day as proud parents.

To me, Mother's Day is a good day to reflect on what I did right in raising my children, a day given to thanking my husband and God for all they have given me through my children.

I find myself smiling as I type this because it is a joy after years of doing so much to assure their upbringing in a way that they can be good, solid, honest young adults in a world that seems to have gone mad.

I'm grateful on Mother's Day, and every day.

Homemade crafts are frugal and very personal. I love them as a mom and my kids love to make them. They actually work together on them.
