Harris Teeter triple coupons on 3/24!

Posted March 22, 2010

It appears that Harris Teeter will be tripling coupons starting this Wednesday, 3/24 through Tuesday March 30! Thanks to Chet at savvydollar.org for confirming triples! Here are the rules and some thoughts:

  • They will triple up to 20 coupons per day, per household (your card knows when you have tripled 20 coupons so if you go to different stores you still cannot triple more than 20 per day)
  • They will triple coupons with a face value of up to .99 (.75 coupons are worth $2.25!)
  • The policy is that they will triple up to 3 identical coupons per day (example - buy 3 Steamfresh bags and use 3 Steamfresh coupons and all three will triple)
  • Coupons that are $1.00 or more will be taken at face value and will not increase in value at all
  • Don't expect to find everything you want when you go - they will be sold out of the best deals very quickly. Enjoy the ones you do find and remember that there are great deals everyday - not just during triples.

Thank you Faye. Hoepfully that is what happened. I am going to try to go back today by myself =( and see how I do.

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Mar 24, 2010

Well Nancy - did you have fun?

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Mar 24, 2010

Hi tot - 63% is still very good (especially with the required toaster strudels!)

Coupons will only triple up to the amount of the cost of the item. If you bought any products that cost less than the coupon tripled, the coupon will not fully triple. I pay close attention to the cash register as they cashier is scanning each coupon to make sure the ones that should triple, do. During triples, it is soooo much easier to fix a coupon problem at the register before you have paid than once you have already paid.

I know that it's harder to watch the register when your little one is with you, but it sounds like overall you did very well on your savings!

I didn't do as well I would have liked to. But I still did ok. 63% savings. Only takes a couple of items to throw your total way out of whack. My lil one just HAD to have Toaster Strudels. After she pleaded her case, I just couldn't say no. She "needed" them for breakfast...pause...it's the inporkant (important)meal of day. It will make her "heel" better. (nothing wrong with her)lol and they would make her as strong as daddy is by tomorrow. How could I say no....lol

Made my trip to HT this morning. First thing...I want to send a shout out to HT in Kings Grant. Everyone there is sooo nice and helpful! I just love that store. Second...I look at my receipt at the store, but when I get home, I go thru every inch of it. I am having a hard time understanding why all of my coupons didn't triple. All of them begin with 5. I had no more than 2 of the same. Only 2 where IP. I had 20 q. Only 1 was $1.00 so I know that did not triple. So that should have been 19 that tripled. But only 16 tripled. hhhmmmm All of them scanned. Is there something I am missing?

  • Nancy Mar 23, 2010

My pleasure Faye, can you tell I'm excited about this sale? Heck, I'm half tempted to just ask the mgr if I can bring in a cot :) I'll be there every day, I have that many coupons I can use. Donation city coming up!!! And my neighbors could use some free food too, sad situation there. So I'm very, very anxious to get some deals and pass them around!

I've done a major reorg on the fridge, freezer and the upright freezer in the garage too - trying to make room and make sense of all that is there. Pantry is already stuffed, hhhmmm, I'll have to transform another closet somewhere :)

    So many good deals!

I hope everyone has fun and finds everything you need! Of course HT is great about giving rainchecks, and with luck they will get everything in during the sale. Fortunately though, there are a lot of HT's around so hopefully we can all find what we hope to get!

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Mar 23, 2010

In the past year when HT has tripled, the registers started tripling at 7:00 AM even when the store is open 24 hours. You can call your local HT and ask, but it has been a 7:00 am start for the promotion each time they have had tripled for a loooong time. Hope that helps! Have fun! :-)

Can anyone clarify what time we can start shopping if the circular is available at midnight?

Thanks for posting the other deals Nancy and for helping with the questions! I have not had a chance to read the blog until now and didn't realize there were so many questions!

FYI-Even if your store is a 24 hour store they usually don't start tripling until 7 AM on the first day. If you want to shop before then, call your store to verify. The start time has been 7 AM for a while with the HT promotions.

    Thanks again!
