Weekly grocery deals 3-3-2010

Posted March 3, 2010
Updated March 4, 2010

There are tons of good meat and seafood deals this week - it's stock up time folks!

Lowe’s Foods is rocking the grocery aisles this week with a new set of 3-week coupons in today’s sales ad as well as offering a bunch of good meat deals. Steamfresh veggies are free and Dannon Light and Fit is an excellent deal with the printable coupon!  Did I mention .99 All detergent?!

March is Frozen Food Month so expect lots of great deals on all kinds of frozen foods this month. I always love the free and almost free frozen veggies. Keep an eye out for the Penguin coupon displays in the frozen section that will be showing up in Harris Teeter and Lowe’s very soon.

Lowe’s Foods
March 3 – March 9, 2010

3-week coupons good March 3 – March 23
You can use a manufacturer’s coupon with these store coupons for even better deals! Here are my favorites from the 3-week coupons:

Steamfresh Frozen Veggies, various 10-12 oz. $.97 with coupon - .50 coupon from 2/7 = FREE! (free veggies are always a good thing in my house!) – there was also a .35/1 coupon from last week making each bad .27 after store and manufacturer’s coupon.

Dannon Light and Fit yogurt 3 for .99 with coupon, limit 9 - .75/6 printable coupon doubled = .48 for 6 (.08 each – an excellent price!)

Sargento Cheese, 5-8 oz $1.49 with coupon - .40/2 from 1/31 = $2.18 for 2 ($1.09 each – a very good price for 8 oz cheese these days)

Lowe’s Foods Chunk Cheese 8 oz $1.49 with coupon (a pretty good price – much better than full retail just about anywhere!), Limit 4

Butter quarters, 16 oz $1.77 with coupon (a good price for 1 lb butter), limit 2

Sister Shubert’s Rolls $2.49 with coupon - .50 printable coupon = $1.49

Fresh assorted pork chops $1.97/lb

Bottom round roast $1.97/lb (not the most tender of cuts but does pretty well in the crockpot)

Premium ground beef, 93% lean $1.97/lb – a good price for 93% lean FYI - apparently the stores are posting signs that this was a typo in the ad and that it is the 80% on sale for $1.97/lb. Very unfortunate that they are not honoring the price printed in their ad, but I don't buy 80% for my hubby and kids (I don't like ground beef at all) so I will be passing on this deal. Thanks to Karen for the heads up that they have the signs up in the stores about it.

Tennessee Pride sausage 16 oz $1.97

Click Download Coupon at the Palermo’s link above to get the $1/2 coupon.

Cheemo Pierogies, 18 oz $1.50 each (these are great with pasta sauce and parmesan – very frugal meal) There will probably be a coupon display with a giant penguin in the frozen food section soon with a $1/1 coupon for the Cheemo Pierogies. Grocery deals are good, but that recall list is starting to affect my stock pile. I just read... An FDA statement says the affected products include soups, sauces, chilis, stews, hot dogs, gravies, seasoned snack foods, dips and dressings. The FDA has posted a list of recalled foods at foodsafety.gov.

Faye, we are new to coupon shopping and were really impressed by the work you've put into your article above. We are wondering if you are going to do this article weekly?

Going to try and make one of your workshops for sure.

$1 coupon for Bordens Singles Sensations: http://www.friendsofelsie.com/dollarCoupon.pdf

Prints VERY large--don't try with less than full sheet of paper!

  • Faye Prosser - Smart Shopper Mar 3, 2010

OMG - KLW! Cannot believe they did not honor the typo. I was so impressed to see that deal and then for them to not honor it....very unfortunate. I do understand that typos happen but to get our hopes up like that.... hold on...I need a moment.... ;-)

Hi Allyson! Thanks so much to you and your posse for coming last night! I am soooo thankful that the snow held off so we could all get home safely.

Thanks for your comments HG and Michelle - you both rock!

Now - I need to get off this computer and go pull my coupons for my Lowe's Foods shop tomorrow!

  • mmitchell140 Mar 3, 2010

    Faye,

I am LOVING this Smart Shopper blog! You are and always will be the coupon queen. Thank you for taking the time to do all the research and for sharing it with us so we can all save money. I took your class once and since then I've taught many of my friends the art of couponing.

Thanks for all that you do. Michelle
