Share your frugal Valentine's ideas!

This morning on Bill and Lynda in the Morning on 101.5, we were chatting about frugal Valentine's ideas. I shared a few ideas to keep folks from breaking the bank just to say I love you and they are listed below.

If you want to give roses: Walmart is selling a dozen roses for $15.00. Add an inexpensive vase for a frugal, tasteful bouquet.

If you prefer to shake things up and add a little creative color and spark consider tulips, gerber daisies or lillies:  Kroger is selling a bouquet of 20 tulips for $9.99. I really like tulips.....hint hint for the hubby..... ;-)

FYI - Use the little packet that is supposed to keep your flowers alive. They’ll keep those frugal stems from wilting too quickly.

Decorate the table with a few silk rose petals from Michael’s craft store and some candles and you are all set!

Go out for lunch instead of dinner – lunch menus are usually less expensive and the portions are usually more appropriate.

Have your kids make their cards for the grandparent and parents. Homemade cards are fun to make with the kiddos and such fun to receive.

Scavenger hunt for the kids – place little hearts all over the place with reasons why you love them written on each little note. Give them a hint on each note where they can find the next one. At the last note, have a little stuffed animal, some .20 Valentines pencils from Walgreens this week and a $1.50 heart with chocolates from CVS waiting for them. Gather all the sweet notes and have the kids glue them on construction paper to make a little book of love.
