Harris teeter super doubles good deal list!

Posted January 6, 2010
Updated January 7, 2010

Thanks to for most of this list and as well! Keep in mind that we may not have received all the same coupons as some of those listed here. You can usually order them from sites like, which is why they are listed. I’ll continue to add deals as the week progresses and we discover them.

When deciphering this list, the top line of each deal includes the product name and price. The second line includes the amount of the coupon and the date that it was in the paper (if applicable). The abbreviations after the date are for the specific insert the coupon was in:
RP = Red Plum
SS = Smart Source
P & G = Proctor and Gamble

Warning: Please remember that during these types of promotions, products sell out fast. There is a good chance that a lot of what you want will be gone by the time you get to the store. Please be patient and enjoy the deals you do get. Harris Teeter offers so many good deals every day, that they don’t deserve grief from couponers when they run out of freebies. The warehouse only has so many products and all the stores want the same items during super doubles so, not surprisingly, they run out. I know I sound like I am on my soapbox, but the managers have relayed some pretty horrid stories about couponer tantrums during triples and super doubles, so please humor me.

Also keep in mind that some of the coupons state “Do Not Double” – especially the printable ones. Most Harris Teeters will double them automatically if the bar code starts with a 5. Be aware that some will not (including the Wilson HT). So, for most of us, they will double the DND coupons automatically if they start with a 5, but keep in mind that some stores won’t double any that say Do Not Double.

Good luck and have fun. Let the games begin!

Hi Loiuse - Thanks for your comments. I felt the same way until I started diligently matching sales with coupons. I realized that no one store has all the best deals. I have found that Harris Teeter and Lowe's Foods offer excellent buys every week by combining sales and coupons. I use Kroger, Food Lion and Walmart as loss leader stores every few weeks when they have great buys on certain items. I agree that some items are more expensive at certain stores, including the example you gave for the deluxe gingerale. I simply don't buy the expensive items at those stores. I still shop them for the other excellent buys though. I encourage you to add Harris Teeter back into your shopping options. We all know that they will be out of alot of good buys during triples & super doubles & we are thankful for those we do get. The real stocking up goes on every week with the regular sales combined with coupons that get doubled. Good luck!

unc - here is the answer to your receipt question.
    Your receipt indicated the following:

Balance due: $30.01 - this is what you owed after sales and coupons

Coupons Tendered: 42.88 - This is the total saved with coupons and store sales

Saved on the order: 39.24 - Is this from the line that reads: Total VIC Savings This Order? If so, this is what you saved on store sales by using your VIC card. It does not include coupon savings. The coupon savings are included in the line that reads Coupons Tendered.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

I always shop at Harris Teeter, but I didn't think they doubled a coupon unless it was UNDER $1.00 except for the special coupon deal weeks. The manufacturers got smart and instead of giving us a $.75 coupon that could be doubled to $1.50 - they are now using $1.00 coupons that they know can't be doubled and they save (and we lose) $.50. Am I wrong about the $1.00 coupons not being doubled?

  • Southern Girl Jan 6, 2010

They were already out of several things that I wanted, but that is normal. It is always the "trucks" fault!!!

Lowe's Foods is a much better store with better deals. Also, Kroger.

Harris Teeter charges $4.99 for a 6-pack of Vernor's Gingerale - it is $2.99 at Kroger. I really don't understand this $2 difference. This is just one item - there are many, many more.

Harris Teeter has priced themselves out of my price range.

Great savings everyone! I was very happy with my shop today - I'll be on the 12:30 news Thursday to show the awesome receipt and chat about the good deals. I do love Super Doubles!

UNC85 - I am guessing that you have a non-zipper binder. Is that correct. They are smaller and don't sit on the cart as well as the zipper binders. To keep yours from falling, put your purse under it - I do that with mine and it sturdies it even more.

coffeecrazy - let me know if you have any other questions about the inserts I sell. I am happy to answer them. For me, it was a huge AHA moment when I went from using the accordian purse size coupon envelope to using the binder method 10 years ago (yes, 10 years!). I could finally find all my coupons whenever I needed them.

It was great to see you at HT this morning Judith! Although they were already sold out of alot of items, I still found many products I wanted (especially the free guacamole - my name is Faye and I have a guacamole problem....).

  • unc85vw Jan 6, 2010

Coffeecrazy - i used my coupon book (modelled after Faye's) for the first time today. It's just the regular sized 3in binder, but it didnt fit well in the cart seat (Faye's website has a picture of how it should sit in a shopping cart). So, not sure what i'll do about that.

But on my trip to HT today I spent $30 & saved either $42.88 or $39.24.

    It says:
    Balance due: $30.01,
    Coupons tendered: 42.88,
    Saved on the order: 39.24.
Why doesnt my saved amount equal my tendered?

  • coffeecrazy Jan 6, 2010

Do all of you use the coupon notebook? I get so irritated trying to keep up with and sort coupons!! grr! I am considering purchasing Faye's coupon notebook - I have never saved on groceries like you guys posted- AWESOME JOB!

  • j3434 Jan 6, 2010

today i did not get the very best deals b/c some of the things were items we actually needed right now at the house rather than stock-up items, so they weren't on sale in addition to the coupons, but still, pretty good: $74 groceries, $50 Q's, ~67% savings.

found the cashier at harris teeter SUPER helpful (western blvd, raleigh). they were also very well-stocked on super-doubleable items.

ht (according to the manager) has discontinued the welch's refrigerated juices, so my $1 off coupon for refrigerated varieties was useless, so i thought, until the cashier suggested i try one of the non-refrigerated variety just to see (it wasn't very busy, so no one was behind me). it worked! now, these were more expensive, but for welch's grape juice, still a decent deal with $2 off, especially since grape juice is good for cholesterol, plus it's yummy. i told him thank you so much and he might see me every day this week, so when i left, he said, "see you tomorrow!"

  • judithlangdon Jan 6, 2010

I spent $43.56 at Harris Teeter this morning for $121.77 of groceries, saving 64 percent. This included the $5 credit from doing the Kellogg's deal and I received $5 catalina coupon from the Kraft deal to use on my next order. Included also was $19.50 of produce, meats, bread, salad dressing that I had no coupons for. Thanks to sites like this one to help me get groceries for less.

  • KLW Jan 6, 2010

I spent $81.38 but saved $94.61, which was 53% of my total bill. I got free English muffins (thanks to a coupon that the manufacturer sent me that was doubled and the BOGO sale), two free containers of Lysol wipes, and free Clorox kitchen cleaner. My husband likes to take soup to work for lunch, and I got him 3 cans of Campbells Select Harvest soups for $1 apiece, thanks to the coupon I had and they were on sale. I got Lean Cuisines for $1.50 thanks to the coupons I'd gotten from the penguin display and they are on sale. I made a rule for myself that if the price of the item would not be cut by at LEAST 50% by sale/coupon, I wouldn't buy it.
