Happy New Year!

Here’s to a year of smart spending and living within your means! To help you do just that, check out this week’s Friday Freebies and Giveaway.

Friday Giveaway – Coupon Organizer!

This week I am giving away a set of my coupon organizer inserts in a 1" binder to help you get your coupons totally organized. This month’s giveaway includes the following to help you save big at the grocery and drug stores!

  • Smart Spending Coupon Organizer Inserts – The inserts include 24 pre-printed tabbed dividers and 25 coupon insert pages. They fit inside a 3-ring binder (I have included a 1" non-zipper 3-ring binder for this contest). The tabbed dividers are alphabetical by product type including tabs such as Baking, Bread, Cleaning, Condiments, Dairy, Frozen, Oral Care, Snack, etc. The binder method is for those couponers who want to go to the next level and always be able to find their coupons. No more flipping through stacks of coupons at the checkout line. You can see all your coupons easily with the binder method and just pull out what you need in no time at all. I am also including a one page guide to using your new organizer.  Click HERE for more information and photos
  • A stack of coupons from this week’s big Sunday coupon section and from all over the place.
  • A Measurement Conversion magnet from SavvyDollar.org – I am sure these will be a collector’s item one day! Thanks for sharing the magnets, Dan!

All you have to do in order to enter this giveaway is write a comment at the bottom of this blog post telling us what frugal things you are going to do this year to save money and live within your means. It can be anything from beginning to coupon to recycling dryer lint! No, I don’t recycle dryer lint, in case you are wondering. The winner will be randomly drawn from all entries on Wednesday morning (January 6) at 10:00 AM and I will announce the winner on this page shortly after drawing the winning name. The winning package will be mailed as soon as the winner contacts me and provides an address.

FYI – you can only post comments on the WRAL blogs M-F during business hours so if the blog says it is closed for comments, just check back on the next business day to submit your comment/giveaway entry. Good Luck!

And the winner is...... johnjanhall! Congratulations! Please send me an e-mail at saving@smartspendingresources.com to claim your prize package not worth millions of dollars (but maybe you'll save millions using it!)

Thank you to everyone who participated! I loved reading your comments and ideas.

Trying to get my kids involved this year with coupons. A competition to see who can help us save the most.

  • kouponkaren Jan 5, 2010

I used the coupons for digital converter boxes and cancelled my cable. I don't even miss the cable shows!! Not to mention the money I am saving each month.

Thank you so much Ms Faye for doing this. I have so wanted to be like you since I heard your story a few years ago. My ultimate goal is to save enough money so that I can stay at home with my boys. By using your hints and coupons I hope to be able to prove that I can save money!!

Using coupon esp on double and triple days. Using only cash and really trying to live within our means and paying ourselves first. We want to pay off all credit cards and have a hefty savings account.

  • jimfranh Jan 5, 2010

I will continue using coupons in conjunction with sales to get the best prices possible. It's amazing how much money you can save.

I buy alot more generic products now. But, if name brand is on sale and I have a coupon, I go that route if it is cheaper. Also, I plan and write down weekly menus based on what is on sale that week and what I have on hand.

My husband and I have just graduated from "FPU" (financial peace university) a class offered by various churches in the area - we are doing his "envelope system" for all groceries, restaurants and 'beauty' (haircuts, etc). We also use coupons (although hope to do even MORE this year!) and shop the sales. Looking forward to being more organized about doing it! :)

Excellent comments everyone! Thank you for sharing what you will do doing this year to live more comfortably within your means.

Auroraleigh - we just used a restaurant.com gift certificate for the Garner Ale House last week! It cost me $2 for a $25 GC and we had a very tasty meal with excellent service. Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

Amgfall - I love that you will be paying for the tuba with coupon savings!

stephkenner - I am so sorry about your husband being out of work. Keep following the blog and great deals and we'll help you get to the really big savings.

leeb - great job having your daughter work with you on the couponing. These are important skills she will use the rest of her life.

I am off to sell some used curriculum and get girl scout badges. Happy morning and stay warm!
