Coupons can help you save money, so getting an extra coupon would definitely help. But what about coupons for products you don’t use?

To get extra coupons and trade others, people often go to coupon swaps.

At these get-togethers, everyone brings a box, bag or envelope of coupons they won’t use and passes them around.

“You get a lot of extra copies of coupons that you want, and you can dispose of the ones that you don't want,” said Faye Prosser, who organizes a local coupon swap.

Prosser’s group tries to meet monthly at a restaurant. She said there are lots of ways to start a coupon swap.

“A lot of church groups, women’s groups (and) work groups do coupon swaps,” she said.

Prosser suggests putting a coupon box in the office breakroom.

“Whenever you have coupons, you’re not gonna use, you stick them in there. And then you take a look and pull out the ones you want,” she said.

The Savvy Dollar offers a forum with information about coupon swaps in the state.
