Beginning today, August 31, Walmart and Murphy USA are offering a pretty impressive gas promotion through December 24: Save up to 15 cents per gallon when you use a Walmart credit card, Walmart gift card or Walmart moneycard!

Here are the details:

Save up to 10 Cents/Gallon when you use a reloadable Walmart Gift Card to pay for your gas at Murphy USA locations in the US.

Save up to 15 Cents/Gallon with a Walmart MoneyCard or Walmart Credit Card at Murphy USA location in the US.

Walmart eGift cards (cards that are printed out at home with a barcode) cannot be redeemed at the gas stations for a discount.

After December 24, 2012, the discount will be 3 cents per gallon for Walmart Gift Cards and 5 cents per gallon for Walmart MoneyCards and Walmart Credit Cards.

** Murphy Express stores are not participating locations in this promotion. Only Murphy USA stores are participating. Unfortunately, the Murphy location closest to me is a Murphy Express, but there are many participating Murphy USA locations in the Triangle.

Click HERE for all the details about this promotion!

ncveteranswife--you don't know what you're talking about and you don't have your facts straight. There are NO FEES whatsoever for a Walmart gift card. NONE.

"Is the Murphy outside Walmart on 42W a Murphy USA or Murphy Express."

bootyroo - that is a Murphy USA, the Express stores are the kiosk type locations, no inside store, no restroom types.

You don't have to have a Money Card to get the 10 cent discount. All you need is a store gift card and there is no charge to load or reload those. They even have gift cards that say "gas card" on them. We took advantage of this same promotion last year and it is a money saver.

I have the Wal-mart Discover card, they give you $10 back when you have spent $1,000.00 I pay off my balance every month so there is no interest charge. If you get one and only put your gas on it and pay off every month then you should see a pretty good savings with 15 cent per gallon. Murphy's prices are usually low compared to the other "name brand" gas stations.

realstory....Just went to Walmart website and to get a Walmart reloadable card online is a $3.00 fee unless you have direct deposit and the montly maintenance fee is $3.00. If you go in-store to get a reloadable card the issuance fee is $3.00, the reload fee is $3.00 unless you have direct deposit and the monthly maintenance fee is also $3.00. Thank you for telling me I did not know what I was talking about and that I did not have my facts straight. Again, I'll take a pass!! Thank you.

No there is no fee to reload or load the cards. Not even a fee to get a card the first time. Normally it's $.03cents off a gallon. How can anyone not be familiar with this? They've been doing it for years. Assuming they dont just raise the gas an extra 15cents, that's a great promotion.

Doesn't Walmart charge a fee to reload these cards? I'm sure with their credit cards they are charging interest, so I don't think this gas promotion is such a good deal. I'll take a pass.

Is the Murphy outside Walmart on 42W a Murphy USA or Murphy Express. I think the one in Clayton on Hwy 70 is Express, but I think the one on 42 is USA? Am I correct?
