Back to school deals have begun!

Posted July 10, 2012

It’s that time again: Back-to-School sales have begun! About this time every year, the office, drug and big box stores offer great deals on all the supplies your kids will need for the next school year! This year, they are actually starting about 2 weeks before they started last year, which is great news for all the people who started back to school this week.

I’ll have a consolidated list for you each week until the great deals subside in about 8 weeks.

Some stores offer excellent deals but require a minimum purchase like $5. Some stores offer great deals after rebates. Most will only let you get a certain number of each good deal.

Teacher Discounts: Some stores will allow teachers with ID to get larger quantities, so ask if that is an option, if you are a teacher (including homeschoolers).

Please post if you find any other deals!

vlynn -- I think you had the month wrong -- according to the staples website all NC events are on Saturday 8/11 from 9-12.

    Oops! Not 7/11/12. That's tomorrow! I meant 7/14!

The Garner Staples is having a Teacher Appreciation event this Saturday, 7/11/12 from 9-12. The sign said that they are offering free reusable bags to teachers and special prices on stuff (I'm guessing you have to bring a teacher id or something). The sign did not mention home schoolers, so I'm not sure if it's open to them or not. This event may also be going on at other Staples in the area, but call to check if you plan to go.

LAXMom, Staples just today emailed me a coupon for a 1TB Toshiba USB3.0 external drive, for $79. Do you get Staples emails? Check yours. If not, I can email you a link to the coupon.

I brought my husband a 2T at Best Buy it was on sale for 89.99 and he has a MacBook Pro. So, I would suggest looking out for one in their sale paper. Hope this helps.

Also be VERY careful at Office Depot on the free after rewards items -- they have things messed up & I almost ended up buying the wrong item (blue pens instead of the black ones that were on reward special). Just make sure you have the ad and make sure the prices match what is on the ad.

For the Staples and anywhere else where there is a minimum purchase -- you can buy one of the free or cheap after rebate/rewards items and qualify for the minimum to get the cheap items. I did 4 purchases at Staples where I bought 1 ream of paper and then all the 1 cent items. After rebate it is less than 50 cents ;)

Don't forget to use your staples rewards on the free after REBATE items (NOT rewards items!)
