Do you price match?

How many of you take advantage of the price match policies at Target and Walmart?  For many of the best deals on coupon items, it pays to shop the stores that double coupons including Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods and Kroger. But sometimes, it worth it for me to price match on items that would not be a better deal with double coupons, like produce, meat, dairy and this week, Coke Zero.

The Coke Zero was on sale for 69 cents at Carly C's in Garner (new store that opened last week) through June 10. I did not have time to drive to that store before the sale ended since it is about a 20 minute drive to a part of town I am rarely near. So, I printed off the ad from the Carly C's website and took it into my local Walmart (which was on the way to another place I was going) and got the Coke Zero for 69 cents each!  I also price matched the produce deals from Aldi including watermelon for $2.99.

What products do you price match and do you price match more at Walmart of Target?

I try really hard to stay out of Walmart as I feel like I am in some kind of zombie movie whenever I go there but I might try matching as it is closer to me than Aldis...thanks for the reminder Faye. :-)

Faye-I went to WM today to get a couple things and tried to pricematch produce using the Aldi flyer (I've done it before). I was told by the supervisor I couldn't because they consider Aldi a wholesale store (manager said the same thing)..have you heard of this?

Faye, which walmart do you usually pricematch at? I have tried the print off ad at both the 40/42 walmart and the one off hwy. 70 in Clayton. Both have told me I have to have the actual newspaper copies of the ad (which is clearly not corporate policy but still). This was a few months ago so I just gave up hope. Maybe it is time to try again...

I do this weekly at Walmart. LOVE it! It is my best money saver and I use coupons all the time. Since I am trying to eat healthier, this is the best way for me to save money. Especially since HT is 25 minutes from my house and coupon events only happen avery 4-6 weeks. I am so glad you posted about this again. More people should take advantage of this way to save money.

wow , this price matching is going to take my coupon'ing at double/triple stores to a new new.

derrr - At Walmart, you just go to the regular checkout like and let the cashier know you are price matching some of the items. I usually have them ring those us last. I bring in the ad from the Sunday or Wednesday paper or print it out online (as I did with the Carly C's ad). The policy indicates you don't have to have the ad but I always bring it in case there is a question. Sometimes they ask to see it sometimes they don't.

eparkins - It is supposed to be the same brand so I was surprised that lilcouponer was able to price match the Kroger milk price with Walmart milk. It's one of those cases where some stores will let you and some stores won't. I am going to ask at my Walmart about the milk price today. It does not need to be a certain brand of produce to price match at Walmart, I have found. They have price matched strawberries, blueberries, oranges, waterlemon, peppers. etc with no issues.

QUESTION: So Walmart will price match milk? I thought it had to be the same name brand..so I can get Great Value milk for the same price as Krogers's name brand milk? Also I was not aware they price matched produce..so this doesnt have to be a certain name brand either?

Faye, how do you usually price match with those stores?? Ads directly from the store? Or Printed from the interwebs?? and does the normal cashier allowed to do these? OR did you goto Customer service? I definitely can't make it to aldi but I always see good deals there.

HappyGirl - I had heard that same feedback about Target price matching from others. The Walmart price match policy indicates you don't even have to have the ad. The cashier the other day just asked me what the price match prices were. Even though I had the ads, she never even looked at them.

Lots of food at Walmart! I usually don't have time to plan out major price matching and coupons. I just take the ones I've got, get what I need and get outta there. Doing it this way, price matching at Walmart (taking all sales circulars with me for proof) works out really well. Yes, if I stacked and saved and drove the "right way" I'd save more money on doubling/tripling, but would lose precious time... which is worth more than money.

I pricematch produce from Aldi's mostly. I've found that the pineapples tend to be smaller at Aldi as do a couple of the other produce so I take my ad and go to WM. That is basically the only time I shop at WM since their customer service seems to leave a bit to be desired. I still haven't tried pricematching at Target, but need to try it...

Because of my hours I price match alot at the Walmart in Fuquay I have never had a problem. I try to go to the same cashier if possible because she will tell me about items. based on what she notice I have purchased.

Since most coupons are geared to large families, I find that price matching helps me more. I've only had one problem when I pulled an ad for a drug store on the internet, which was an exact copy of the printed ad in the newspaper. They did not want to honor it because the guidelines say: They do not honor "internet pricing" and I couldn't get them to understand it was the same ad as is printed in the newspaper.

I price matched milk at Walmart yesterday because Kroger has it on sale. I was pleasantly surprised that they did it with no issues. I shop at Walmart very little because of the long lines and not so friendly service but it is the closest store to my house. Based on this experience, I will take advantage of it more often

I've tried at target many times and I have NEVER been able to get them to do it. First I found you had to go to guest services, not the register. Then I found that if you needed a loyalty card at the store you are price matching to, they won't do it. So, I have finally just given up on them. I don't shop at walmart that much but I understand its much more customer friendly there.
