Outback is giving away a free Bloomin' Onion with any purchase today only, May 21,  because Ryan Newman placed in the top 10 in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Click HERE for more information.

There is no coupon required and apparently, it is good with any purchase. Just make sure you ask for it and mention Ryan Newman.

Yes, I realize this is a less than nutritious item and no, I will not be getting a free Bloomin' Onion for my family today. In case you are wondering, here is the "nutritional" value of this freebie:

The whole Bloomin' Onion appetizer (which serves 6 according to the website) has:

1948 calories

160 grams of fat

48 grams of saturated fat

17.5 grams of protein

115 grams of carbs

Per serving that is 325 calories, 27 grams of fat and 8 grams of saturated fat.

It is nice to see you Nancy! :) And try my Yankee way of eating grits: treat them like cream of farina cereal. No butter. Just a little granulated sugar and maybe a drop of milk. I'm ducking now! LOL ;)

LOL on the GRITS, jma! And there you have it Nancy - jma has your bloomin' tofu all ready to go!

Jaredsmom - I miss Nancy too. :-) I look forward to her travels being over so we get her back (are you listening Nancy?)!

Hey, watch it Nancy - you leave grits (g-irls r-aised i-n t-he s-outh) out of this :-) I was raised on those things, and they are sooooo tastey!!! Also, slice extra firm tofu, season it, then fry in sesame oil - yummy!! And no, I'm not even vegetarian!! LOL And no, we don't like "bloomin onions" either :-(

Aww Nancy! You don't like grits? Throw some butter on them and they are great! I love me some grits!

And I'm glad to see you posting Nancy...I really miss reading your posts!

uhm, Faye, I don't think a bloomin' tofu would work LOL!!! And while we're at it, nothing can be done with grits to make them appealing either :) Just sayin' :)

Faye, if you figure out how to make a Bloomin' Tofu let me know! I'd be willing to try the recipe.

I bet a Bloomin' Tofu would taste great, Nancy! LOL Maybe I could get you to eat it that way...maybe not.

basil, when you get to know Faye better, you'll realize she doesn't judge folks :)

I raz Faye a lot over her use of Tofu, which will never be found in my house LOL

She tries to eat healthy and feed her family healthy foods but trust me, she doesn't begrudge anyone for enjoying something unhealthy ;)

Basil - you read too much into it. It was simply a statement that we won't be getting it, but enjoy it if you do. We certainly eat our share of the SAD diet, as hereandnow called it and when I posted about the Cherry Berry Chillers for .49 last week, I made it very clear we were getting them after school.

In answer to your question, no, I don't like the bloomin' onions and nobody in my family does.

For those of you enjoying your onions - have a nice dinner!

I for one LOVE Outback's Bloomin' Onion, and I appreciate Faye posting the fat and calories, etc. on the Bloomin' Onion. I know when I do eat part of a Bloomin' Onion it is definitely NOT healthy and NOT friendly to my waistline.

However I still grateful to Faye for posting this!
