ALDI deals 4/11 - 4/17

Aldi produce deals are excellent this week, as always. You'll find great buys on strawberries, pineapple, pears, oranges, mangoes and cantaloupe. The Wednesday meat deal is also very impressive: $1.69/lb for boneless chicken breasts!

These deals are valid 4/11 - 4/17.

Weekly deals

Wednesday Special Meat Buy: Fresh chicken breasts, $1.69/lb - a very good price!

Strawberries .99/lb

Pineapple, .99 each

Pears, .99 for a 2 lb package!

Oranges, $1.49 for a 4 lb bag!

Mangoes, .49 each

Cantaloupe, .99 each

Reminders:

* ALDI does not accept manufacturer coupons

* You will need to bring your own bags to bag your groceries. They do not provide any.

* If you wish to use a grocery cart, you will need to deposit a quarter into the cart machine and you will get it back when you return the cart.

* They accept cash, debit and EBT cards as forms of payment. They do not accept credit cards or checks.

where's the best place to pick berries? I live in North Raleigh and thought it would be fun to take my kids to pick them since I have never done so. (Don't have too many berries in E. Africa to pick lol)

nakabi, the best place for me in North Raleigh is near Creedmoor at Lyon's Farms. It's a beautiful, clean farm, been going there for 18 years and the owners are so nice. They have all kinds of produce - some "pick your own". Their strawberries this year are $1.25 lb. I'm waiting a couple weeks for the hot sun to make them sweeter :-) Have fun - your kids will enjoy!

jma47-thank you very much for your input! I'll definitely give Lyon's Farms a try. Is $1.25 a good price for strawberries for a pick your own place? Will the price drop any as summer comes?

nakabi, no, the price will not drop. It's probably the best price you will find. They were $1.15 lb. (I think) last year, but I'm not surprised they have gone up with gas, fertilizer,etc. being higher. They were .85 lb. for years until about 4 yr.s ago. The good news with pick your own is they can all be "perfect" :-) Being from a strawberry farm down So. I have to have perfectly ripe ones - no store bought for this LA gal!! I would wait a couple weeks though - sun & heat does make a difference in sweetness-----

FYI--they are the strawberries from CA at the Cary location. Maybe they'll still be good...haven't eaten one yet.

Actually, at the Aldi in Durham, I was surprised to learn that the Wed meat special is "while the supply lasts". The previous time they ran this same chicken breast special, they still had some in the store for the Wed price on Friday. But when it's gone, it's gone, so you really can't count on it after Wed, especially since their business is quickly increasing.

CA strawberries at Aldi in Fuquay. They're ok and medium sized, not the giant ones. I bought 4 packs, one whole pack is yummy enough to eat fresh and I'm making two pies with the other 3.
