steph, the smallest blue bag has been 'discontinued' according to the floor mgr at the IKEA in Woodbridge VA a few weeks ago. I was beyond bummed, she said many customers were not pleased either.

The penguin finally showed up at LF in Holly Springs! That bird has been hard to find!

We are headed to Ikea in a few weeks. Have they completely stopped selling the smaller ones Nancy?

Speaking of donations, don't forget to bring donations (food/personal items) to the Clayton/Fuquay Varina swaps on Tuesday if you plan on coming! They go to local churches/food banks in their respective areas :)

clayton - those IKEA bags are cheap! The smaller one, that they've discounted (so bummed am I!!) was only 49 cents! The next larger size which is good for larger items that don't weigh a ton was around 59 cents! So if you find someone that is going, you won't have to spend much! Mine I've been using for over two years - no tears, no handle coming loose etc.

Nancy - Love the bags made from the feed sacks! And I will see if someone going to IKEA can help me out by getting some of theirs. Have never been to IKEA myself. I am willing to fork over cash for a quality item.

Faye- Why has it never occurred to me to use bags from other stores?! Guess I just see people unloading stacks of purchased reusable bags and never thought about the "free" kind. May have to hold back a few Target bags from my daughter. She goes to college out of state and told me once Target bags fit her trash can perfectly so I always use them to pack the "care" packages I send. (And of course those care packages are filed with deals I found or samples I have received, lol)

lilcouponer...I give lots of it to my Mom who lives in a home for the elderly/disabled. She takes what she needs and gives the rest to her friends. You wouldn't believe how little some people have to live on for a month and how much they appreciate things like shampoo, paper plates, baby aspirin and Ben-Gay - many of these types of items are the ones Walgreens gives out free after RR :)

I also put a few toiletries in with my donations to the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. I hope folks are in need of Chapstick and Rice Krispies this month!

computer trainer, yes, dog food bags that are made of the duraweave - you can see the woven texture especially inside the bag. They are very, very durable and hold a ton of weight without the bag being big :) The dimensions I use is 18" wide, 6" box bottom and 14-15" tall. You can get one of those out of a 20 lb bag and have enough left over for straps, which I cut 3" wide the length of the bag, then fold in each side 1/2" then fold again and stitch shut - no raw edges and easy on the hand.
