Working full time and keeping current on couponing with a commute. I was in grad school while working full time, 3 kids, taveled and remained married (she's a saint). I found that snippets of time make a huge difference. I studied during lunch, used TV time after kids went to bed to study and often just stayed up late to get in some extra study time. Weekends were family time but if the others were busy I'd make sure I had a book with me. I know this would work for couponing. If it was me I'd make sure I checked the blog at least at lunch and get those coupons/freebies that pop up during the day. I'd spend a few minutes/hour at night doing the clipping and organizing. I'd arrange my shopping trips around my commute home and stop on the way back. I'd spread the shopping out over the week. If they run out of something, get a raincheck adn get it later. Have hubby pitch in, too. Get him to look for coupons when he travels and spend some of that together time clipping and organ

I was pretty pumped too, Nancy about Food Lion's double coupons. I was dying to ask the guy to let me flip through the ad, but thought that would be pushing my luck. I am a Food Lion fan and usually do some of my weekly shopping there for sale items, deli and produce, so keeping my fingers crossed that the doubles are so successful for them that they do it regularly.

"I dream of the days they will sleep in, but I must say it is better than it used to be! They used to wake up at 5:30/6 and now it is closer to 7. I don't consider that sleeping in though! :)" - steph

LOL! Just had this discussion with a neighbor, whose kids are also in their 20's like ours are. We have discovered that now that we're older, WE don't sleep in like we would like :) Aches, pains, age seem to change that ability LOL

Ahhh, the strange twists of the lifecycle!

lovetherascals! WHAT? FL will have double coupons????? I know they have been test marketing the concept (in the Atlanta area if I remember correctly) - maybe they're trying to compete, at long last :)

That would be fantastic! Wonder if it will be all regional stores or only a select few? Should be fun to see what happens!

Thanks dawnl39! I was in foodlion yesterday picking up some chicken and when I went to my car, someone had left a stack of those coupons in a cart. They didn't want them, so I took them (it amazes me that people just throw money away). I am headed to harris teeter today, so I will use them! Thanks!

Just got back from HT & Lowes - an excellent trip if I say so myself! $172 worth of groceries for $64! And if anyone got the register print outs from Food Lion that say $$ off a product-like $1 off any cleaning product, $1 off any cookies, etc., HT will let you use it. Those coupons alone got me an additional $6.50 off my order. Good to know!

I was in Food Lion @ 40/42 this afternoon and a worker noticed my coupon binder. He pulled next week's ad out of his pocket and said "first ever double coupons next week" and showed me the ad. He said they've kept it pretty quiet but I guess my binder inspired him to share!

Quemaster, I really struggled with organizing coupons by category as well. I alphabetize mine by brand, and have a spreadsheet of all the coupons (similar to what Sue Stock used to have at N&O on her blog). This works out well for me and I can see almost at a glance what coupons I have and which ones are expiring soon. Updating the spreadsheet frequently only takes a few minutes and keeps it from getting outdated too much. Let me know if you would like more details on the spreadsheet -- I'd bee glad to share :)

steph - it will get better! My tween can sleep until 1 pm on weekends, if we let her! My 10 yr old still gets up by 9:30 am on weekends when she can sleep in but that's definitely sleeping in to me.
