Oh, and if they want to put the Aldi in JoCo, I suggest either McGees Crossroads 50/210 junction or Smithfield near the 70 Bus/Hwy 210 junction (near the cemetery). 40/42 is toooooo congested as it is!!!!

Does anyone knowmif WalMart will match Alid prices on anything? I know most of the Aldi branded stuff would be a no, but I thinking more of the more generic stuff, say the 5lb bag of red potatoes and the chicken breast. Potatoes are poratoes and meat is meat, right???

Fruit and veggies at Aldi can vary from store to store. Aldi trys to buy mostly local produce and as you know that varies from area to area. Some Aldi's have better produce than others. Different times of the year are factors too. Another note: We have tried those little filets wrapped in bacon and found them to be quite good. The turkey steaks wrapped in bacon are a favorite at our house too. Aldi offers double money back guarantee: If you don't like an item for any reason take it back. They will refund your money and give you a replacement item that is the same value. Can't beat that.

There is an Aldi on New Bern Ave. outside the beltline about 4 miles on left.

tcndc2 - I am familiar with the Fuquay Aldi. I am rarely in Fuquay, though, and for me it is about a 17 mile drive each way. My savings would be eaten up in gas if I drove there just for Aldi.

kcastleberry - I hope they make the JoCo Aldi happen soon!

There is an Aldi in Fuquay- only 11 miles from 4042 area. But I don't always find their produce to be top line- you get what you pay for.

Faye, I actually have contacted Aldi about opening up a store in Johnston County. They are working on it. They had me send them some possible sites. The more people that request it the more it will help. The closest one to me is in Wilson. There is a ton of extra info about Aldi on this website that will make you even more interested in Aldi. It's the Frugal Girl. com (no spaces though) do a search on visit to Aldi. She shops there every week and was invited to the home office and learned a ton about the company that will make you want to shop there even more! Love me some Aldi!

Aldi just opened a store in Durham, across the street from the Target at Southpoint. It is amazing!! Even my hubby was impressed. We went Sunday- $.99 pineapple and cantalope, bananas for $.22/lb. Can't wait to go there again!!

FYI, I went to the new Aldi on US 64/New Bern Ave today at lunch. In addition to the sales noted above, they also had skim milk marked down to $2.35/gallon. It does not expire until 1/24, which is not bad as quickly as my family goes through milk! They also had chocolate milk for $1.00 per 1/2 gallon, so I got a treat for the kids.

The bacon-wrapped filets taste great, esp for only $1.89/each. They are individually wrapped, so my kids can even prepare them for a quick meal.

I am fairly new to Aldi, but it is quickly becoming my favorite grocery store!

LoveLoveLove my Aldi! I've shopped there for nearly 20 years. After moving here in 98 from upstate NY, I would load up the car on staples on the trips back home. Then I found the one in Wilson, and my friend & I would take the grocery-getter & make monthly stock-up trips. It was totally worth it.
I would warn folks, though, to watch the produce. If you buy it, use it asap; it just doesn't keep well. That was true in NY as well. Other than that, I've never had a problem with their food quality. They've always save me a ton of money.
