They have the very best Angus burgers (freezer section) bar none and the price is fantastic compared to any at any price in chain stores :)

Thanks guys. I'll check them out and see. Imcgee, I saw yesterday on their website it said opening Jan 12th or something like that. Guess we'll see. That will be the closest one to me as well.

Does anyone know when the Aldi near Southpoint Mall will open? I saw on the Aldi website it was supposed to open at the beginning of November and since it is now almost the beginning of January, I wonder how far behind it is. I've never been in one but have heard great things about them and am anxious to give them a try!

Aldi does sell national brands but the majority is their own brand. Interestingly, one of the founders of Aldi (or the founders' son) was one of the founders or owners of Trader Joes. Also, many people use the empty boxes or box lids instead of grocery bags.

I see that one will be opening up near me next month. Do they sell national brands (stuff we are used to seeing at FL & HT) or is it all "aldi" store brand stuff? Just curious. As I said I've never been to one.

HappyGirl, give Aldi a try, at least once if they are convenient for you. They do have some phenomenal prices on everyday items, especially produce & staples that never have coupons anyway.

Aldi is great!!! And you can purchase bags ($0.05/ea, I think), or you can just use the cardboard boxes from the store to pack your groceries. You'll save a ton of money by shopping there. Oh, and the quarter for the cart? You won't see a single cart left in the parking lot. Everyone returns them to the cart rack in order to get their quarter back. They'll give you change if you forget your quarter.

Wow. I've never shopped in an aldi before but those restrictions don't really make me want to rush right out and do it.
